You would have to take transmission out and disassemble.......only half part and then use mega silicone gasket

I think you are talking about the car's computer box. These are designed to live as long as the car and do not need replacing at certain intervals. Either the repair shop is trying to get more insurance money or the computer module was damaged in the accident.

Hi there,

There should be a cover directly behind the light inside the tailgate., All you need to do is remove this cover and you will have access to the rear of the light socket. Twist the light out anti clockwise and the globe will come out. Refit in the reverse order.

If you find it hard try it this way >

holding the assembly together, and yes a screwdriver is what you will need along with a little pressure at each side once you have pried each joint to stop them from popping back together.

I suggest hooking it to a scan tool that will access the ABS/ BCM functions of the PC and find out what code it is showing. That will lead you to what the issue is.
