Check the air cannister and/or charcoal cannister for damage.

Yes its that easy, just make sure you engage the notch on it to the throttle body shaft. You may have to roll it past the screw holes to engage the notch. Then holding it in place on the throttle body, just roll it back to where the holes line up for the screws. Do not over tighten the screws

on all 4 cylinders, inline,
the #1 is always on the end with crank pulley and belts.
#1, regardless if RWD or FWD. cars, (front wheel drive)
in fact the engines like this are used on may cars, radically different bodies.
the car is a ISUZU impulse with a GEO sticker .
that fact makes parts easier to find, or get books.
rare car. super rare, and 10x that running.

automatic or manual trans,
(they are very different)
both cars have crank blocking devices. by law.

M/t clutch switch (depressed to crank)
A/T P/N switch. (must be in P/N to crank)
A/t has relay , stick shift m/t not.
here is the factory schematic,
fixya wrecks it. but
if you look close , it has relay on A/T cars

1992 Geo Storm | Answered on Jan 30, 2016

Could be fuel pump or something in the ignition system. Have you checked for spark?

1992 Geo Storm | Answered on Jan 17, 2016

we cant guess the tranmission. sold with car new.
ever.
I can't to me , is that its stick shift car. is it?
the problem is a bad clutch actuator (pedal to clutch main)
or bad clutch.(drags) yours is dragging , only why remains.
inspect the clutch cable yet>? and adjust free play per the book.?

the car is really an Isuzu Impulse minus some of that car's more expensive features.
Geo dead
Isuzu dead, double dead car..
the online books (alldata.com) show a clutch cable
buy a new one , i bet this one is EOL. end of life.
remove it install it and set the free play right.

hard to say as to why it did not pass, but it sounds like you have a problem, most emissions are caused by too much hydrocarbins coming out the tail pipe, new cat converter,

1992 Geo Storm | Answered on Mar 25, 2015

Depends on many factors. mostly on what the problem is. The report should indicate which of the limits have been exceeded.

there are 2 tranny types used in this era.

real 3speed hyrdamatic, and 4 speeds with electronic TCm control box

to diagnose any tranny ,one must know what is there.

the storm is really Isuzu impulse.

the 2 choices day 1, was

  • 3-speed Jatco F3A automatic

  • 4-speed Jatco F403E automatic

so what is a F3A;

here is the guts

http://www.shinseiauto.com/japanese/transtar/atmazdaf3a04.pdf

ever change part id 26 this decade? the Filter,..... called proper service.?

as you can see it\'s a real hydramatic, no TCM brain

as such , diagnosis is old school.

stuck in 1st.

so in the FSM book , the first test

is to do the stall test. (google that)

if that fails do the transmission line pressure test. (test ports)

the stall test, will be like 1500 rpm (no i didnt look yours up)

but of like very low, the engine is weak

if the rpm goes real high that it slip. and is end of road.

ok stall passes.

the next part to fix is the governor.

this device, causes the gear change, it its dead.

the car will stick in 1st.

the GOV connects to the tail shaft.

before the GOV , i change out the Vacuum modulator #30

this mod UNIT, can leak in side and cause no up shifts.

if it vacuum nipple here, leaks ATF , the MOD is bad,

i just replace them on suspicion,.

the GOV on this car has a nice cover #4. that can come off

one car , did this, the GOV had plastic gear, and was shattered.

that is about it, on the easy fixes on car .
