If i broke the plastic nosle off the top of a new fuel pump for one of the hoses, can i change just the top part of the pump ?

  • donnell haines Feb 11, 2012

What do you suggest that I do with this new pump. It still works but the plastic nosle is broken. Can I return it ? I just don't know what to do next. I really don't have the money to buy a new one. Thanks for your help.

Is the fuel filter clean ,,, it sounds as if it has fuel starvation ,,, this could be the filter or make sure you have the correct pump installed , because they have different pressures

dont panic ,,, can u plastic weld the pipe back on ,,,,, but as its fuel it has to be a really perfect job or you could have a nasty fire hazard ,,,,,

Reference voyager van wiggle test. If that did not solve your problem, you may have a cam sensor going bad. There is no way for you to check the computer. With a scan tool hooked to vehicle, can you read codes?

My car just stopped working it seems no gas is gettin to the engine but it used to stall alot not like oh s*** im out of gas but the stall when you press the gas and absolutely nothin happens then the car...

Here's a technique that works for me. Locate the fuel pump relay, in the fuse and relay panel. Pull the fuel pump relay and look at the bottom of the relay. You will see that the cover can be removed by carefully prying it off using a small flat blade screwdriver or an x-acto knife. Once the cover is removed, reinstall the relay. Have someone start the car while you watch the contacts on the relay. If the contacts close, the relay is OK. If you turn the key to on without starting the car, you car close the relay manually. (You can use your finger to close the relay. Listen carefully, at the fill tube with the gas cap removed. If the fuel pump is getting power you will hear the whine of the motor. If not then check the fuel pump fuse first then the 12 volts at the connector on top of the fuel tank. I've had a problem such as you described, where the car will start but stalls if you try to give it gas. I found that some GM's use a small (2 inch)section of rubber hose to connect the pump to the steel fuel line inside the tank. The hose splits which allows enough fuel to reach the engine, but not enough to run it under any load. The fuel filter should be replaced if it is suspect, but probably isn't your main problem. Hope this helps! Dano
