Question about 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer Ext
When applying brakes noise come from rear of car.. my trailblazer is in auto so i switched to 4 low and it switched HARD. did the same thing when i switched it to 4 high. no noise when in 2 wheel drive.
First of all, the noise is not coming from the rear. The noise is only happening in 4WD mode, that involves the transfer case and front differential.
When was the last time the transfer case fluid change, it is recommended that it be changed every 50K miles. It is possible that you have transfer case issues. It is not recommended to operate the drive system in Auto mode constantly, this will wear out the internal clutches.
If the road surface does not warrant 4 wheel drive, keep the selector in 2WD.

shift into neutral while the truck is running and switch it. it might take a second and make a thump but that should work.go into 2 high.being in auto seems to lock it up.

ok here i go my 2000 Z71 4X4 you can hear all the clicking when pushing all the 4x4wheel drive buttons seams to be working fine but service engine light comes on. the code comes up on the machine shifter selinoide.the trans has been pumped out and has new filter twice and new fluid .and still does the same thing but when changed the fluid and filter the first 2 times changing it would work fine. but then mess right back up. but seems like its stuck in 2nd or third gear when trying to take of in drive the normal way sounds like its lugging like the front end half locked or something .but pull the shifter in low or 2nd it takes off fine but want shift in to drive and overdrive firstname.lastname@example.org thank for any help on this

No probably not, first check the fuse for the 4wd in the fuse box if that's OK its likely the actuator on the front axle..........providing the shifter handle moves to the proper location and if its push button the lights light in the switch when selected...the actuator plugs into the wiring harness and screws into the front differential.an easy remove and replace part even for a novice.

Pull the kick panel on the passenger side. there is a small box mounted there that is the computer that controls the actuator for the 4wd system. this is notorious for problems due in fact that the connector likes to pull out and away from the module. I had the same problem and the solution is simple.. take a long zip tie and get it between a few of the wires and around the module. tie it in and have a nice day.. it wont come off or try to pop out anymore and you should have no issues getting into 2wd, 4wd h, 4wd L.
