Question about 1998 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

Idle I just got a 1999 motor put into my 1997 park avenue, but its idling up and down bad. And it cuts off. The check engine light is on. Its not a vaccum leak. Do you think its a coil, or sensor?

MAP SENSOR!!!!
If the shop didnt take the good parts off the old engine you may of inherited some bogus parts on your new engine...I always swap everything over because you never want to have to work on a car again after you just did!!!!

My 1997 buick park avenue is idling intermittently between 500-2000 rpm, sometimes stalling while idling. I washed the engine yesterday.

Washing engines is not recommended maintenance. You may have to take your Buick to a repair shop to find what got drowned and make repairs.

1999 park avenue

No lights are most likely the dimmer switch at the light switch, Replace it. rear defrost, could be a broken wire, switch is bad, or the little stands that go across the window, one is broke. No heat, probably the vent motor on the passenger side under the dash, close to the center console.

sounds like theres a problem with the ignition switch or the cylinder lock, your going to have to unplug harness connection under dash to see if radio goes out with the chime if it goes out when unpluged then the problem is in ingnition system, most likely its a jammed key sensor in cylinder, start there hope this helps,

Excessive static on am stations when engine is running

two types of noise accur on radio's first is known as a whine,, goes up and down with engine rpm secound is static...normally static is from bad plug wire or plug... you probably have coil packs.. one of them could be arcing.. check it out in the dark of night and look for the spark light. most time good tune up fixes let me know

1994 buick park avenue, idling up and will not idle down

If it's not sticking throttle linkage, and i assume it isn't because you have an engine light on, it's probably a faulty idle control sensor. You can get one at any parts store, and they aren't hard to remove and replace. The parts guy can show you exactly where it is on his screen.

This is the diagram but you should have factory belt diagram sticker is still somewhere under the hood
If not:

To replace the serpentine belt on a V6 3800 you must jack up the motor and remove a motor mount. You must then use a breaker bar with a socket (13/64") and pull it toward the front of the car to release the belt tensioner. Put the new belt on, tighten it, put the mount back on, and lower the jack.
Driving without a belt can cause the motor to overheat, will cut power steering, and will not recharge the battery, so you should probably get a tow
Good Luck
