Removing starter on 2003 mitsubishi lancer

My daughter's 2003 Mitsubishi lancer will not start. It has the clicking sound and I tried to jump start it. My son says it's the starter, but he's in another state so he can't help.

How do I take off the starter to take it somewhere to have it checked? Where is the starter located? This would be easier than having it towed somewhere only to have it towed somewhere else.

It may or may not have the information you are looking for, but there is a Chiltons repair manual for all Mitsubishi and Toyota models from 2001 to 2005. It is available new for about $90 or it is generally available on Amazon used for under $20.

so u have a CH/CG lancer

you would need to remove the two 10mm bolts from the coil packs and leads and then stick the smaller version of spark plug socket in remove them, bear in mind if u have a mivec motor the spark plugs MUST be Platinum :)

2003 mitsubishi lancer wont turn on right have to turn twice

I think you mean that the engine does not start first time you crank the starter. A common problem is a coil pack. If you car has a distributor, there's a coil pack inside it that is failing. Might also be the coolant temperature sensor that provides a signal to the engine computer.

are the connections to your battery firm? it sounds like one may be lose - the clicking sounds you hear are from the starter solenoid and should only click once but if it does it again and your battery terminals are tight im thinking your solenoid on the starter motor may well be on the way out.. hope not for ya but... did you replace your engine speed sensor? If it keeps going you may need to see a reputable mechanic in your area to check it over... lancers are good cars but...

I have a 2003 Lancer. The car does not start. Starter solenoid clicks when turned over. The dash lights are dim. I've had the alternator and battery check and are good. Any direction would be helpful. ...

YOU NEED TO MEASURE THE VOLTAGE WHILE IT IS CLICKING AT THE BATTERY & AT THE STARTER, IF THE VOLTAGE IS BELOW 9 OR THE STARTER IS DRAGGING THE CABLES ARE NEXT. BATTERY CABLES CAN BE TRICKY, THEY MAY LOOK FINE, BUT CAN BE BAD. WIGGLE & PULL ON THE CABLES, THEY COULD BE THE PROBLEM. WHILE CRANKING, CHECK FOR HOT SPOTS AT CABLE CONNECTIONS. HOT SPOTS MEAN BAD STARTER OR POOR CONTINUITY .

My 2002 lancer battery keeps dieng but starts whem i jump it but when i kill it tha battery dies any answer what the problem is

If the car runs everytime you jump it & continues to run until you shut the engine down & won't restart, then it is either a bad battery, or bad connections from the battery to the starter solenoid & fuse box. If the ground connection were bad your car wouldn't start when jumped & it's apparent that once you get enough voltage(jumping it) to the cars starting system it will run, there are no other options. Battery or wiring.

Good luck

Came back from out west.parked up for 5mintes,just tried to start my car,it just makes a click sound and thats it.

If you didn't try jumping it....low battery.

If you did jump and were able to drive and then tried starting it and the lights dimmed...bad alternator.

If you tried jumping it and it still clicked only...bad starter solenoid (just change the whole starter assembly).
