Question about Ford F-150

1 Answer

My 04/05 f150 lariat wont start. Wont even crank over unless I cross it over ot the soleniod, but cranks over very hard, like it's really working to turn over; occasionally will turn over at t

Guy I bought it from had recently bought it from a mutual friend who apparently said the the truck was still running fine...But no. Guy I bought it from got it out of impound yard, had it towed to Ford dealership to have new key cut and programmed to truck, costing him hundreds of dollars.lhe also put a brand new starter in it himself, costing $260 to $280. Still did nothing for him, so he figured it was siezed, also because he apparently added atleast a few courts of engine oil.and figured someone ran it out of oil and caused it to sieze. Anyone, I bought the truck, and it isnt siezed, because I can make it turn over, even though it has to fight for hope. Lol It's all I've got right now though, and I need it A.S.A.P. for work;so please help me somehow to find the problem and fix it.

Check voltage at trigger wire going to the solenoid. There should not be any voltage there except when the key is in start positon...if there is the ignition switch may be bad.

Broke timing chain in a 3.8 1995 mustang

The timing chain is not a cause for whole engine replacement. If the guy is willing to do it for 150 plus parts and guarentee's it to run right afterwards Id say go for it. 150 Plus parts is a good deal for something like this.

Sincerely,

JC

I bought a 2007 ford explorer with 16,000 miles, when I went to get a state inspection sticker, it failed. they told me it was because the battery was disconnected or they replaced the battery. I was told...

Apparently the code checker that they use tells them how long the computer has been recieving codes. If the battery has been unplugged recently, they may suspect that you have an engine problem, but the code has not shown up yet. It makes sense because I know of people who disconnect the battery to erase the codes then go get the car checked. One of my friend's engine light came on just after he left the testing station, so, he passed but had an engine problem. Run the car for a couple of days and try again.
