Question about 1991 Ford F150
I have a 1991 Ford F150 4 x 4 inline 6 4.6L. Dual tanks. When I switch the fuel tank switch to the front tank, the truck dies. It is a 5 speed. The rear tank work great. Front tank full of fuel! I jsut got this truck. Not sure where to start.
Your truck is a 4.9L, make sure you have power to the front tank fuel pump. is the power to the pump is ok and you can hear the pump run for a second or two when you key the vehicle on... replace the fuel tank selector valve

all you need to do is listen to hear the tank switching valve is working. It will make a soft noise under the rear cab section with the key on with the engine off. zif you do hear it sounding the switch your tank unit for that one tank you try to switch to is a fault. Sorry no illustrated diagrams are on hand, just knowledge

YOU HAVE A TANK MOUNTED PUMP AND FRAME MOUNTED PUMP.THEY BOTH SHARE THE SAME RELAY AND INERTIA SWITCH.YOUR FUEL PUMP RELAY COULD BE BAD.OR BAD CONNECTION AT INERTIA SWITCH OR SWITCH ITSELF CAN BE FAULTY.SHORT OPEN HOT WIRE TO BOTH PUMPS OR POOR BROKE GROUND WIRE.
