I replaced the coil pac, several years ago while fixing this same problem. I did have it tuned up, I wonder if the mechanic backed the spark off. when I get on it, I get a hesitation. I didn't have a problem towing my boat, granted it is only adding 700 lbs, but I had a 3 hr drive, no problems at all. I replaced the fule pump eight years ago. At a popular after market store, they said, the computer said bad 02 sensor. I asked which one, They said replace it, it's only $86. I smiled and said I have 6. So bed 02 reading can be fule pump. Makes sense too. Thanks for the help.

Vincent_G, Thanks for the response. No oil can be seen, it is almost like a lime deposit. white and crusty. I think I'm going to get a new cap and pick up, and the thinest seal that I can find, that wont make too much of a gap, and see if it has any effect on it. I don't know why it was'nt designed this way.

Buy a matching pack (one from a bubble pack). Place a clear / large plastic zip-lock bag to monitor moisture.

I'll look for a seal. Do you think it would help if I sprayed WD40 in the cap? My Pop did it, I have done it, but with cars now I'm not sure. It is so hard to believe that I have built them from the frame up. Shade tree mechanics have it hard now. I see no remants of the blanket. No hanging clips, but the light is in place. I just can't believe the distributor is on the back of the block, with no kind of protection. Thanks.

I want to isolate is the problem cause be seal (internal) or the external (ex moisture / no underhood weather protection / stock black or silver sheet) Use a plastic bag will help you see is the contamination is from

Thanks, Vincent. I think the moisture gets kicked up from the front tires. I see no water marks on the fire wall, and no drip marks on the cap. I will try your suggestions, and let you know. I will also get a blanket, I just never thought about it. But today I'm staying in. Cold and snow, and for some reason people rush on days like this. Thanks.

SOURCE: how to install a distributor cap and rotor on a 1985 chevy truck?

I have had good luck with Echlin caps and rotors that are from NAPA.
You are going to need to mark your spark plug wires so you can get them back on the new cap in the right place. Tape with numbers on it or what ever you can come up with. There should be 4 screws around the lower part of the cap. Take your screwdriver and push down on the screw and turn like a quarter turn counter clockwise and you will see it release from the distributor. If you look at the new cap you will be able to see how it works. Once you have the cap off you will have to transfer the coil to the new cap. There should be 2 small screws on the top of the cap that hold the cover over the coil.
I think there are 4 screws holding the coil in to the cap and you will have to pull the wires and terminals out of the cap as you are removing the coil. Be careful when you retighten the screws in new cap.
When you replace the rotor you will see by looking at the bottom of it that it can only fit one way and lock on to distributor.
Just take your time. If you have any problems I will try to help.

Towing capacity 2008 dodge dakota v6

Which cab design do you have? The two door cab has a 7,050 lb. maximum towing capacity. The four door cab has a 4,400 lb. maximum tow capacity. The information for towing can be hard to understand. Know that the more weight you place inside the bed, the less weight you can place inside the trailer. It is a balancing act and there is a difference between pull weight and load weight. Also keep in mind weight shift and how important it is that the trailer tongue is level (For braking). The front and rear axle weights are on the driver's door jam. Any questions please write back.

Symptoms of bad distributor

a bad distributor indicates in several ways
misfiring on one particular cylinder --- cracked cap, carbon track diverting the current for the spark
multiple misfires -- corrosion in the HT leads receptacles
intermittent spark ---rotor button spring contact not touch carbon button in cap--replace cap
varying timing --- using a timing light , the timing varies between BTDC and AFTDC--- worn bushes in the body, worn shaft, bent shaft, excessive end float in the shaft
faulty advance plate connections---stuck or loose
if electronic --- exciter touching the pickup sensor( worn shaft/ bushes
without a make ,model year and control method (efi or electronic distributor) it is difficult to determine the cause of rough idling and the rpms variation
that can be from vacuum leaks, low fuel pressure , mixture adjustment if carby or mixture control if ECM
if EFI unit run the fault codes for pointers to the problem area

Ignition coil, plugs & wires, clips & rod in manifold, fuel rail pressure sensor, and now won't start after hard rain. Bump, that's all. WHAT ?!!!!!

Everything you replaced. Did it have the seal on the plug? Did the seal stick in the part replaced? You still have the old parts? First thing I would check. After that I would throw a hose on the top and see where the water was going. Some Fords have problems with fuse boxes. year make and model?

Car turns over but i'm getting no spark what could cause that or how do i fix that so i get spark

Start with the ignition coil. It should have power to it with key on. Should be battery voltage on the primary circuit to the coil-that's the coil positive terminal. If the coil is good, it could be a bad ignition module-the module cuts primary current to the coil when commanded by the engine computer.
It could be several things-fouled plugs, bad plug wires, cracked distributor cap, bad rotor, crank sensor or pick up coil (inside the distributor), pcm. Test the ignition coil, or try a known good coil.

How do you get the fluid out of the converter 2004 f150 when changinge fluild

You don't. That fluid stays in during a fluid change. Repair manuals show two refill capacities. One is for a normal change, and one for a complete overhaul, as when filling after installing, and transmission and torque converter are completely dry. Normal refill capacity is when the converter still has fluid in it.
