Well most engines have a mechanical pump on the engine, but the E350 models used for motor homes and box vans also use an electric pump in the tank. The pressure rating is still 5-8 psi like the mechanical pumps.
Have you replaced the inline filter ?

SOURCE: Ranger fuel problem

There is a fuel cutoff switch on the passengerside floorboard, towards the right kick pannel, there will be a little red button on top of it, check to see if that is tripped, also when you turn the key to the on position listen to see if you hear the fuel pump prime up, just a short buzzing noise from the underside of the cab, if you dont hear it, that is a good indicator that your fuel pump maybe bad, i would also check the pressure at the fuel rail, chrome or black colored bar located near the fuel injectors.

SOURCE: low voltage at fuel pump on 2005 new fuel pump no

Hello;
There is a fuel pump relay used on your truck. Check the wiring diagragm for the location. Then also trace the wiring back to make sure you do not have nicks, cuts, or abrasions on the wire leaking voltage.
Thanks;

1984 S10 wont run fuel coming out at pump but doesnt seem to supply carb. has new filer. when primed it runs for a few seconds.

Is this a carbed engine, that usually means mechanical fuel pump? Take fuel line loose from carb, aim into container, crank engine, does gas flow? If so, have to check float bowl in carb to see if any gas, if no gas, need a carb kit in my opinion.
I don't know liter size of engine? If fuel injected, let us know.

Fuel pump pressure low on dodge ram 1995

If you did not replace the filter with the pump the filter could be blocked. Or something in the fuel line to the engine. You might check the pressure regulator too.

1986 Jaguar XJ6 Won't start. rolls over but that is it. replaced fuel pump relay and fuel pump. seems to have fuel at pump inlet, nothing comes out the outlet. I am lost. car ran out of gas before this...

if your fuel pump and relay are new, how about your fuel filter, if your fuel pump is working but no fuel turns out, check fuel pump polarity, if ok, there will be a clogging in fuel lines, take a high pressure air and plug it to fuel outlet in fuel lines test port, allow air to go back up to fuel tank and observe if the air goes, if not, check or change fuel line, if the air goes to tank, direct your fuel relay pin 30 and 87 and check if the fuel runs to the injectors, if not, change a good fuel pump

What is a good way to troubleshoot a possible fuel pump failure before going out and just buying the part

The best way would be to use a fuel pressure gauge to read the fuel pressure while the engine was running, but you can also try this, when the engine does not start and you suspect the fuel pump to be the problem, then remove a vacuum line from the intake manifold and spray some carburetor spray (has to say extremely flammable on the spray can to work) into the intake manifold and then see if the engine starts, if the engine does start and run for a few seconds on the carburetor spray then there is a fuel delivery problem.

However, and I have found this to be the case with the majority of the 4-Runners that I have worked on,
there seems to be a defect in the rubber fuel line that is attached between the fuel pump and the the metal fuel line that is located on the fuel pump assembly inside of the fuel tank and they all seem to split wide open on the sides and this seems to be a very common problem for those 4-Runners, and that is even why the fuel pump can show as faulty on a fuel pressure gauge, I would certainly not be surprised one bit to find out that the rubber fuel line between the fuel pump and the metal fuel line has a big split down the side of it and is causing the fuel pump to pump more fuel back into the fuel tank than into the fuel line, and it will not be able to supply enough fuel or fuel pressure to the fuel injectors.

If you do drop the fuel tank down to replace the fuel pump, be sure to inspect the rubber line well between the fuel pump and the metal fuel line before you actually purchase a new fuel pump, and most of the time the problem is just that the small piece of rubber fuel line needs to be replaced. (Use fuel injection fuel line only, and compression type "smooth" hose clamps if you can find them)

1988 chevy celebrity No fuel to the carberator.

without starting the engine position the key to the on position.
you can hear the fuel pump operationing for 4 to 6 seconds upon having the key on.
if not heard running check the fuel pump fuse, the fuel pump relay, and the engines oil pressure switch.
they all work the pump you see
the engine oil pressure switch runs the pump untill the engine reaches normal pressure
once the pressure is reached to the normal range the computer shuts that circuit off and turns the fuel pump relay on

I have a 87 mustang and it has a mr gasket electric fuel pump. It vapor locks all the time. i have to take fuel line off turn switch on let fuel pick back up then plug the fuel line back up and it will...

Actually vapor lock refers to a condition in the intake manifold on a carbureted engine. You don't have vapor lock. What you may have is a filter inside the tank, its nicknamed a sock. Its a fine mesh screen and may be plugging up. When you pull the fuel line the fuel flows back and unblocks a small section , until it starts too **** again and re plugs. You may also have fuel pump that starts to lose power when its gets hot. Lee

No fuel to carberator

What you replaced is 3/4 of the equation. The only thing left is an obstruction in a fuel line, unless I am missing something, and assuming that all the replacement parts you put on are functioning properly. Hope this helps and good luck with your problem. I would check things like the fuse for the fuel pump, ect.

Fuel wont flow

You likely have a bad lift pump in the tank. You are working on the fuel pump on the fuel rail right? This vehicle has two fuel pumps one low pressure and one high pressure.
