Question about 2004 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes Benz E Class

1 Answer

I have a 2004 E55 and the radio periodically makes a chirping/feedback noise. The noise/interuption last for about 2-3 seconds. Now this had happened a few months ago but seemed to fix itself. Well its now back again. This sound happens whether I'm playing the radio or cd or music through my phone through aux jack. My last option is to replace the radio. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It is your phone doing it, it updates itself with the carrier every so often and causes a few seconds worth of RF interference when it does that.

SOURCE: 2004 mercedes c240 alarm sounds for no apparent reason

Hi, You need to replace the alarm siren. It is also a module. It is located in the right front fender well. The reason they go bad is because they are located in a place where they get wet.

SOURCE: aux input for MP3 player

I'am an M.B. tech- I do not beleive that this radio is mp3 compatable- iknow that the input you are refering to is used for ipod use. It very well could be that the head unit has to be programed(basically informed0 for an mp3- i would call the service dept. and ask to talk to ther best audio tech savay mechanic. Most likley the service writer wouldn.t know or give you false information because they do not stay on top of all the little tecnical changes. This fiber optic system has many programing features- most have to be done with as sds laptop(dealer software only) good luck

Can a tension pulley cause a loud chirping noise if it is going bad? We have a 2004 Mustang.

Yup.
If you want to make sure...but be careful...take a LONG handle screw driver rest it on the tension pully bracket and listen to the end of the driver with your ear...you'll hear it.
But be careful don't do if too many running parts are in the way. And I mean long..like 2 feet if you have one.
but yes the bearing will chirp. some wd 40 sprayed may lessen it. don't get on the belt use the nozzle. while it's not running,
Best of luck

Squeeky fan belt noise after driving a little

It sounds as if the belt is dry. Belts dry out after a certain amount of time and then start to make chirping noises. If the belt is not badly cracked, you can try using a belt lubricant spray. These sprays usually only last for a short period of time, though.

Mazda protege makes a squeaking noise when I start driving?

If your Mazda Tribute's engine has a rumbling noise when you start it, this is most likely from the drive belt. You will need to replace it.

Serpentine belt makes chirping noise.

When the belts age they dryrot like tires, Twist the belt upside down and bend slightly, You will likely see cracks, Just replace the belt and you should be good to go

Second time the radio had to be replaced

Hello. I have driven cadillacs for years. Although it is unlikely to get two lemon radioes in a row, it sounds like this is what happened. I would recommend that you speak kindly but firmly to the dealership manager and tell him that you want another new radio. Joe

Hello I have noticed a chirping sound the last 2 days. It is only when the jeep is moving

A noise like that can come from just about anywhere.(even the blower motor) As a preliminary inspection you should check wear sensors on the front brakes and all universal joints. Both can cause that. (also a great number of other items...try to get a better "fix" on where the noise is coming from)
