2002 envoy battery died - replaced and now wont start on Driver 2 and wants to stall at all stops on Driver 1 - also stalls when the air conditioner is used

Very common problem with Envoys and Trailblazers. For Driver 1 Clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner while the battery is disconnected. After this is done, re-connect your battery, drive around for 5-10 miles while the computer resets and relearns. Do the driving with the A/C off and the defroster off. Your problem will be solved. I've never heard of not starting in a different driver mode with just changing the battery.

@005 Envoy Wont start when cold

If you can replace your own starter I would buy a new one and try it. Sounds like it could be a worn commutator and when cold the brushes do not make contact with the armature. Worn bushings will sometimes do the same thing. If you are mechanically inclined and have tools I would remove the starter and see if the shaft is loose in the bushing. If so you might try to find a replacement bushing and install it.
