Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer

Where is the transmission relay at on a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES?

The Transmission is stuck in something called limp mode. I am m wondering if the relay is blown or has any other malfunctions. i hooked my computer up to the car to check it and the error codes P1400-MDP Sensor and P1751-TCM control relay appeared.

The transmission does not have a fuse, only a power-up relay located in the under hood fuse panel, near the front of the panel.

If there is a problem with this relay, your transmission will reduce to fail safe mode only. Fail safe is the mechanical-only control which leaves you with Park, Reverse and 3rd gear only, provided there are no internal failures.

What exactly is the problem you are having?

Might be really simple - but EXPENSIVE! I had a similar fault - apparently the first planet set breaks up. Cure - a new box. Price - crippling!

Don't be tempted to skimp on the box. Get a rebuild from a reputable supplier. A s/h box will set you back around £5-600 in UK where a rebuilt (guaranteed) will be more like £1800. The thing with the cheap box is it costs about the same to fit but you don't know how good it is till it's too late! Then you're still shopping for another but you're £600 lighter!

Also, you could be buying other faults. If the speed sensor has had a problem - the box will change badly (snatching) and that will be another £250 where the expensive box will have ahad one fitted!

you can't put the transmission fluid in yourself on an auto or manual transmission for a 2002 lancer es. It has to be injected into the transmission through a nipple that is on the transmission.

thats nothing really to worry about the heater is use untill the exhaust gas is hot. like 400 degrees or somthing, thats were O2 sensors work the best. only for emmisons. won't effect your cars proformance

I had this problem with my 1998 Mirage. check for a short somewhere in the wires that you messed with. On my car I would replace the fuse and start it up again and it would run fine for a while but it kept blowing fuses. Everytime that it blew a fuse i noticed that the gear indicator light (for an automatic) wouldn't work everytime the fuse blew. I also noticed that it would blow one everytime i left the car in reverse for a good amount of time. As a joke my brother had installed a backup beeper under my bumper and wired it to my reverse lights so that it would beep everytime i put it in reverse. so i disconnected the beeper and it hasn't blown a fuse yet! kind of strange but i guess any short that is connected to that circut can put the tranny into safe mode.

I have a 2003 chyrsler 300m it went in limp mode codes p0700. P0340 p0344 p0430 p0888 came up cleared the codes and now it knocks.


clearing codes wont correct the problem and limp mode is designed to protect motor and transmission - p0700 is a transmission problem
P0700 Transmission Control System Malfunction p0340 is camshaft position sensor malfunction

My car is stuck in limp in mode I have replaced speed sensor and I'm getting p 0700 it's a 02 stratus I was told if I have the codes reset that the car should shift correctly


Incorrect information the code is because of a system malfunction and that is what is causing the shift problem. Resetting the code does nothing. Your code is transmission control circuit malfunction.

Dodge ram 2500 transmission relay isn't working right


The relay has pin ID on it lets use that. CAV 30 is B+ which is 12 volts, Cavity 85 is transmission control relay. Cavity 86 is Generator source. Cavity 87 is transmission control relay output. Cavity 87A is not used. open that relay and exposed the relay control see if it engages on its own if not collapse it see if you get out of limp mode.

The transmission appears to be stuck in "limp-in"


The Transmission Relay is in the Power Distribution Box. It's one of the 3 smaller identical relays underneath the row of 7 larger identical relays. It's the top one immediately below the larger relays. Between the Park Lamp(Larger Relay) & Fuel Pump (Smaller Relay).

Fuse #14 is also for the Transmission Relay.

The town and country vans are know for transmission problems and it would not be stuck in 2nd gear if it was in limp mode. Limp mode typically controls the engine. I have seen people do a transmission flush/filter and add lucas to temporary fix the problem. There is also a good chance that the transmission has a solenoid problem preventing it from shifting into any other gears but second. Hope this helps!

Tranny stuck in limp mode


sounds like to prndl switch may be malfunctioning.
gear selector switch, which tells the transmission which gear it is in.

unhook the battery for about 15 minutes and hook it back up... that should reset it

Transmission


You'll need to take the car down to a shop that is able to hook up to a scanner. The reason why it's in limp-in mode is that the trans. computer is detecting a problem.
