Sounds as if either the motor mechanism is starting to get worn out or there is something sticky on the screen stopping the wiper from moving freely. Wipe the screen with a rag using pure screen wash fluid ( not watered down ) or When stationary Try spraying the screen washers whilst it is stopped .

Many of these wiper motors have this problem. A you tube search will show you many different videos of how to get the motor apart and clean up/reset the position sensing switch. You can also replace the whole assembly for 50 to 150 bucks

SOURCE: 04 dodge ram 1500 wiper arm goes down before going up

remove wiper arms at the shaft, right at the cowl. each will have a nut on them but it is covered by a piece of plastic that will snap up for access. take nuts off and remove wiper assembly. turn key on turn wipers on make sure shafts turn when on, then turn off the shafts to stop in park position. then reinstall wiper assemblies in their park position .

Sounds like the wiper arm has become disconnected. There may be a clip or bushing that has broken or fallen off. The wiper motor/arms etc are accessible by taking the cover off (usually plastic and possibly held in by screws or large plastic slots) that's at the base of the windshield. You may have to lift the hood for access and removal. Just take your time and don't force anything.

It's really simple after that. You turn your motor on and look for moving parts, that'll be the wiper motor. Either it's disconnected at the motor or it be disconnected on the arm. Usually one arm will move both wipers. If you're lucky, maybe it's just fallen off and you can find the clip or bushing and re-attach it. Otherwise, you may have to get a new part, which in this case would probably come from the dealer.

You may possibly also get it from a junkyard, but chances are if it's a small part, then they may not sell it to you. However some junk yards WILL sell you these small parts, and others may even let you pull the part yourself. If you could do this, you could also see how the part properly attaches.

If it's confusing how to re-attach the parts, then you may have to buy a Haynes or Chilton manual to see exactly how everything looks. Diagrams would be great. If there's no good pix in the manual, then try online. The best would be to see fully functional operating wipers on a similar car. Maybe find a buddy to take a peek at his after you practice on yours.

The part if broken should fit multiple years of your make of car.

Get this fixed soon because not only will it not pass inspection, but it is highly unsafe.

SOURCE: windshield wipers stuck upright when off

This is a commoon problem with what is called the "Park pawl stop". The tab is most likely bent and needs to be re-aligned, then the wipers need to be re-timed. This re-timing can be a little difficult, although the re-aligning of the tab is failry simple.

It sounds like the the circuit board has gone bad and does not know where the base is any more so it will stop at the middle or the windshield. Auto Zone should have a new board if it's replaceable like the GM products. Good luck and hope this helps, In the mean time you can always turn your wipers on and pull the fuse out when it's at the down position so it's not up.

Either the wiper arms are loose or stripped on the pivots or the wiper linkage is broken. Try tightening the arm to pivot bolt. If that doesn't work, remove the plastic cowling and examine the linkage. You can buy new linkage for it.

Here is a diagram of the fuse box in the interior. This is where the wiper relay is located, #6. Although if you hear sounds from the motor something might be restricting your blades and or the motor is shot and needs to be replaced.

My wipers slam against the sides of the windshield,

First make sure you have the correct length wiper blades on the arms.If they are correct it sounds like someone has had the arms off and replaced them one tooth too far. Remove the arms and move them one at a time. Carefully note the position when you remove them and replace each one by moving the arm one tooth toward the center of the car.

Wiper arm goes off of the windshield when it is raining

Sounds like you just nee to remove them and reinstall them in the correct position. Take them off, run the wipers for one cycle until they park. Install the arms so the blade is about an inch above the bottom of the windshield.
