Try a GOOD scan tool that will read ABS codes. Sounds as if you have a parts failure, so code may help.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevy Impala Service Traction Sytem show on Dash

I can't answer the question about the gas fumes, but I had the same problem last year with the "Service Traction Sysytem" message and the Trac and ABS lights coming on in my Impala. Mine turned out to be because of a bad wheel bearing, that was causing the ABS and traction system not to work. I'm not sure if you've experienced this, but another thing that would happen with mine was that I would go to brake and have a hard time depressing the brake pedal, almost like it was pushing back. That is the point when the Trac and ABS lights came on.

SOURCE: 2001 New Beetle A/C fan noise

I think it is the cabin/ pollen filter. The noise is louder on normal AC operation cos thats when the air is being pulled in through the filter and the sound decreases with recirculate because the filter only functions for outside air.
Need to use a credit card or similar to seperate and move the upper dash centre piece towards windscreen, it clips off. Then open the 3 x torx screws and lift the dash on the passenger side. then remove the plastic cover (oddly shaped) it has about 7 screws, then twist and remove, it requires some real effort, then pollen filter is visible. replace filter and voila! it would make your AC perform like a new car again!!
Hope it helps, Yusuf Johannesburg-South Africa yusuf.ginnah@poynting.co.za

Is this unidentified truck equipped with an in-dash ABS light?

Be guided by your vehicle handbook but in cases of doubt the presence of an abs hydraulic unit under the bonnet (just follow the brake lines from the master cylinder) or abs sensors at each wheel should provide the answer - if your car is fitted with abs there will be a warning lamp to illuminate if there is a fault.

Battery light and abs light on hard to steer overheating

sounds like you either lost your fan belt, or you have a seized up alternator, or belt tensioner. The fan belt [ drive belt ] turns the alternator to charge the battery, the power steering pump to make easy steering , and the water pump cooling your engine. Do you smell rubber burning? hear a squealing noise? or rattling noise. Open your engine bonnet, start the car up, and look at the drive belt and pulleys. They should all be turning. If this is the problem you will see something seized up. Also if you have let the power steering pump run out of oil, it may also be seized. Good luck with it

My ABS light showin my my dash board and it was scanned my mitsubishi. Presently the light is still showing and when I break, I hear some noise as if the break pad is pad. I currently have new beak pad...

Hi,

New brake pads require 'wearing in' and may make a scraping sound for the first 50km or so.

Re ABS

First, I suggest you remove the PCM "Fuse" (in the main junction box, under bonnet) for 10secs, then re-insert. If you cannot find fuse, then disconnect NEG battery cable for 10secs. This will reset your PCM.

Start engine and allow to idle for 15mins (this allows the PCM to re-learn settings).

Drive car a short distance to determine if ABS light comes back on. If ABS light does come back on, then have the PCM scanned for fault codes. This will identify which ABS component is causing the (warning light) problem.

If light remains off (and the pads are worn in), but you still have scraping noise, then something else is causing this problem and will require further investigation.

Cheers,

ISUZU BIGHORN ABS PROBLEM

You will still have normal braking. If you can't afford to have the ABS fixed it's no big deal because alot of cars don't have ABS anyway. The brakes will work just like a car that doesn't have ABS. Hope this helps.
