There could be a fusible link under the hood off the starter relay that is burnt out.

I think I have found the problem. When I wiggle the ignition switch the turn signals and radio go on and off so I feel the issue is in the ignition switch. From what I understand the actual electronics for the switch are at the base of the sterring column behind the lower dash panel and is connected by a rod that may need adjusting.

You know for some reason jeep eliminated the FC relay for some models and now relies on the computer to determine when and at what speed the fan should run based on coolant temperature inputs and A/C compressor status. If the fan is not working properly i would consider replacing the fan,
"I have a 04 GC also with the 4.0 and I could not find my FC relay either. Nobody at a local dealer here had ever heard of this phantom FC relay problem. I was able to find an electrical diagram on the web that does not show the FC relay for the 04 GC but that was it. The diagram only showed the PCM and two relays in the PDC near the battery. My GC was overheating now and then. It would seem to overheat when you were in stop and go traffic or letting it idle. I was not losing any coolant so I replaced the thermostat but that did not fix it. After much frustration I started the engine and sat there and watched it run until it began overheating. I paid particular attention to the fan. When the engine began to overheat the fan was barely spinning and would even shut off at times during the overheating. I knew this was not right so that is when I began this search for the FC relay but I could not find it. I disconnected the fan and did some checking on the two speed electric radiator fan. It has a 3 pin connector where the center pin is ground. When I ran power to one pin and grounded the center pin the fan would run. However when I switched the power to the other pin I got nothing. I had already checked operation of the Low and High Speed relays in the PDC near the battery and all checked out so I went and picked up a new radiator fan assembly and installed it. That was yesterday and that fixed the overheating problem. I have concluded that for some reason jeep eliminated the FC relay for some models and now relies on the computer to determine when and at what speed the fan should run based on coolant temperature inputs and A/C compressor status. I also found out that although my GC does not have the towing package it does have the max cooling package. When I went looking for a new motor for the radiator fan at local auto parts store I was asked if it had the towing package and I answered no. Everytime I did they would bring out a motor that only had a 2 pin connector. Not one of them kept the motor that would be needed if you had the towing package. I bet if they did it would have a 3 pin connector on it. So while my GC does not have the towing package I think it has the max cooling package that usually comes with the towing package. I think the standard cooling package uses a one speed fan where the max cooling package uses a two speed fan. It may be that the standard cooling package uses the FC relay which is supposed to be under the passenger headlight but the max cooling package eliminates the relay and uses the PCM to control two relays in the PDC which in turn run the fan. One more thing....replacing the radiator fan assembly involves removing the shroud. One of the 4 screws that holds the shroud is in a very tight space. I fianlly got to it with a long socket extension and swivel. I know this is long but I hope it helps because I was very frustrated at the lack of informartion available locally and on the web in reference to this oddity" (article found on web)

Replace it. if you look in the bottom of the door, you will probably find the parts that broke off or shavings of the plastic. I have never had any luck on fixing regulators. Some have worked for awhile, but still break again. I replace them all now. Not worth the time. The plastic is just to worn out.

Replace subwoofer 2001 chevrolet suburban


Should be a standard 8" sub, located in the passenger rear side. Remove the plastic interior body panel, the sub will be located behind. Remove the 6-or-so screws holding it in, disconnect the wires, making note of which wire connected to which terminal. Connect the wires to the new subwoofer, replace screws in new sub. Test the audio system to make sure everything is working properly, and re-install the plastic interior cover panel.

How do you replace the taillight?


On the inside of the trunk right behind the tail lights you will need to pull back the carpet to expose the tail lights and wiring. There you will see the light sockets just give them a turn top toward the passenger side and they will pop loose. Actually holding the tail light in place will be 4 big plastic wing nuts. Turn them off and then just give the light a tap to break it loose as they usually stick. Put the new one back in and replace the carpet. PS some cars have the plastic wing nuts holding the carpet in, Yours should have clips that you just pry on to remove

It is a small, long blue plug with two wires, located above the passengers side kick panel among a bunch of other wires. If it has never been used, it will be taped up to that bunch of wires. Just remove the tape and pull the blue plug down and jumper it.

TROUBLE CODES System Diagnosis READING CODES When the "Check Engine'' warning light on the dashboard comes on and stays on, it indicates a problem in the fuel injection/emissions system. Check the ECU for fault codes. On certain models, some codes will not trigger the check engine light; if driveability has suffered, check for stored fault codes. The most common error when using fault codes is to assume the indicated component has failed rather than checking the entire circuit. The presence of a trouble code means simply that the electrical circuit for the named component is not functioning properly. For example, a code for the oxygen sensor circuit does not automatically mean the oxygen sensor has failed. A wire terminal may simply be loose or corroded at the connector. When using diagnostic or fault codes, always remember that the entire circuit including the component must be checked carefully. On 1990-95 Accord (except V-6) and 1992-95 Prelude, the codes are read from the check engine light after the two-wire service connector has been jumpered. On Accords, the service connector is under the dash on the passenger side. On Preludes, it is located behind the center console. Codes 1 through 9 are indicated by a series of short flashes; two-digit codes use a long flash for the first digit followed by the appropriate number of short flashes. For example, Code 14 would be indicated by 1 long flash followed by 4 short flashes. Codes are separated by a pause between displays. Multiple codes are transmitted in an alternating pattern. For example, a code 3 and 14 would be displayed as 3 short flashes (for Code 3) followed by the separator pause, then 1 long flash and 4 short flashes (for Code 14).   1. Use a jumper wire to connect the two terminals of the service connector together.
  2. Turn the ignition switch ON; the check engine light will display any stored codes by rhythmic flashing. NOTE: In the event that a code is encountered which is not on the chart, re-count the number of flashes. If the code is truly wrong, it will be necessary to swap the ECU for a known-good unit and recheck. Since this can be expensive, you may wish to bring the car to a reputable repair facility if no other cause of the failure can be found. This may save you the expense of purchasing an unnecessary part.

4 wheel drive gmc sierra 1500 1993. the cigarette lighter, radio and inside cab light suddenly don't work. is there a relay or fuse in engine compartment i could look at?


your fuse panel is either under the dash by the drivers left knee or on the side of the dash where it meets the door. the radio fuse should be the second from the top right side of the fuse panel. its a 10 amp fuse. the power for the switch should be a 16 gauge wire run from the passenger firewall (under hood.) behind a plastic cover where a lot of wires are bolted to posts. that red wire feeds power to almost everything in the cab. it runs behind the glove box and has a disconnect there. if the fuse is not bad and the wire looks good, check the ground on the passenger door "open switch" (the one that is supposed to turn on the dome light. that is where the whole system is grounded for the int. lights lights

Won't stay running


Check for engine codes. There is a plug on the passenger side of the car, behind the panel in front of the passenger door, or possibly just above foot level on passenger side under dash. The plug has 2 wires going into it, and it's a square plastic end that looks like it should have been plugged into another wire, but it's just hanging there. Get a paper clip, 'jump' the plug (put one end of paper clip in one side of the plug, the other end of the paper clip in the other side). The check engine light will flash if there are trouble codes stored. Count the # of flashes. Single digit code #'s are short flashes. 2 digit #'s are a long flash for the 1st digit, followed by a short flash for the 2nd digit. If there is more than one code, there will be a pause between #'s. This flashing of check engine light will repeat over and over, so you can check your findings easily. Post what #'s come up, and I'll help you with what they indicate. Curt

1. Remove battery terminals and secure them away from the battery posts using nylon wire ties.

1a. Fine some comfortable eye glasses (clear or yellow) and keep them on. There are plenty of opportunities to get debris in your eyes during this procedure.

2. Spray "PB Blaster" (loosens bolts) on two bolts that secures alternator.

3. Jack-up vehicle on side to access alternator. Use a jackstand to support.

4. Using a 10mm open-ended wrench, loosen the bolt that swings the alternator. Screwing the bolt "in" or toward the engine will allow play to increase in the alternator belt. Loosen the 12mm bolt slightly next to the 10mm bolt (approximately 1.5" toward engine).

5. Continue to loosen 10mm bolt until there is enough slack in the belt to remove the belt from the alternator pulley.

6. Remove belt. It may be possible to remove belt without removing fan faring. Maybe not. If not, you will need to remove plastic fairing. If you must remove fair, go below fan fairing and disassemble connectors that hold together pieces of fan fairing. Carefully remove.

7. Install alternator fan from above.

8. Check that alternator belt is on all tracks (from below with a flashlight), and slowly tighten.

9. Secure 10mm and 12mm bolts. Recheck tightness.

10. Reassemble battery connection and run vehicle at idle for about 5 minutes. Check belt for proper tension.

11. CAREFULLY check tension of belt. Or disassemble battery connections and re-check belt tension.

12. Reassemble fan fairing (if not already assembled), re-connect battery terminals, and have a nice day. :-)

TROUBLE CODE RETRIEVAL UNIT


For a 1992 Accord, it is a blue connector with two wires in it, located behind the plastic kick panel on the right side. Use a wire to short those two wires in the blue connector. Then turn the key switch ON but DO NOT start. Then observe the check engine light. It will flash the code(s).
