I have a 2011 Buick Enclave. I just changed the 6 spark plugs and need to understand what the intake manifold torque specs are and the proper sequence? Not sure of the schematic either? help.

Lower intake bolts 11 ft. lbs start in the center of the intake and work your way out cross from side to side.Tighten the upper intake bolts with the same procedure with 89 inch pds.Be sure to apply threadlocker to the lower intake bolt threads.

- Position the rocker arms in their original locations and tighten to the proper specifications.

- Install lower the intake manifold attaching bolts. Apply sealant or equivalent thread locking compound to the threads of bolts. Tighten the vertical bolts first, then the diagonal bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).

- Install the upper intake manifold and tighten the mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

Call any major autoparts store for the correct answer. There are updated torque specs for the gm 3.4 vs in order to deal with a common issue of leaking intake manifold gaskets. They should have the correct updated spec for you vehicle based on the specific Vin number

You miss understand why things need to be torqued .
Torque is not specific to the vehicle its the bolt how hard what is thread pitch how many threads per in or mm how many bolts and what kind compression is required .
Compression always needs to be even say you have a cork gasket on an oil pan with 25 bolts 10 ft lbs on each would give you 250 ft lbs of force but if not done in stages evenly you would be snapping bolts and bending the pan and would leak oil from the start .
Spark plugs have seals 5/8 25 lb ft is fine but its not something you are going to get a torque wrench on .

Spark plug torque on the 3.0L engine is 13 ft.lbs. and the 3.3L is 18 ft.lbs.

Valve covers-69 inch lbs.

Intake Manifold-11 ft. lbs.

How to replace spark plugs on bentley continental gt 2005


you have to pull the intake off of the top of the engine. and then pull each coil pack with a special tool, and then remove the sparkplugs all 12 of them. then you will have to torque to proper spec. and reinstall the coil packs( there was a recall for certain coil replacement for causing a fire). and then put a new gasket on for the intake and then install the intake to proper specs.

Cylinder head bolt torque sequence-3.4L engine

  • Cylinder head by aligning it with the dowel pins
  • New cylinder head bolts coated with a sealant (such as GM 1052080). Torque the bolts in the proper sequence (1-8) to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm). Using a torque angle meter turn the bolts 90 degrees in the proper sequence.
  • Left side exhaust manifold. Torque the bolts to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  • Spark plugs. Torque the plugs 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).


  • Right side rear cylinder head:

  • Cylinder head on top of the gasket and make certain it is lined up properly with the dowel pins
  • New cylinder head bolts coated with a sealant (such as GM 1052080). Torque the bolts in the proper sequence (1-8) to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm). Using a torque angle meter turn the bolts 90 degrees in the proper sequence.
  • Right side exhaust manifold. Torque the bolts to 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).
  • Spark plugs. Torque the plugs 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm).
  • Spark plug wires
  • Exhaust crossover pipe. Torque the fastener to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  • Valve rocker arms and pushrods. Torque the fastener to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm). Using a torque angle meter torque the fastener an additional 30 degrees.
  • Lower intake manifold. Torque the bolts to 115 inch lbs. (13 Nm).
  • Upper intake manifold. Torque the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
