SOURCE: I need to know how to set the timming marks on the 1.6 double over head cams to replace timming belt

timming marks on cams face each other 3 and 9 o clock crank mark at about 6 o clock mark in cover and sump auto adjuster arrow should be in v mark to set this requires turning water pump by loosening water pump bolts slightly be warned some times this causes pump o ring seal to leak if turning.

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.

I have a 1994 Toyota corolla changed the timing belt tensioner. trying to set timing, all marks line up except camshaft dots, can't get them to face each other without throwing off all the other marks

If you removed the tensioner and didn't lock the cams and crank down then you have to re-time the engine. It sounds like you let the exhaust and intake cams move.

Remove the spark plugs, put a ratchet on the crank pulley, slowly rotate engine until the cams line up. Once the cams are lined up remove, the timing belt and bring the crank around to the timing mark. put belt back on and let the tensioner go. put plugs back in...see if it'll start.

What is the correct timing chain installation on 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 engine

the timing marks are to line up and face each other
then fin the chain
then turn the crank until the crank sprocket is facing down timing mark is facing down
the cam mark should be in the 2 oclock position
there should be 15 links between marks
form your description that is what you have done so the problem is not in the timing chain installation
back firing is normally from a valve still open when the spark occurs so check firing order or the distributor installation is not 180 degrees out

1990 geo storm sohc is running rough. Parts that are new: cap, rotor, plugs wires, plugs, pickup coil, and the ignition module looks brand new. The coil is old, but is still sending spark through all t

the timing is 180 degrees out so ignore where no 1 lead should be and rewire the HT leads to the new position for no1 cylinder. The crank timing mark should be on 10 degrees advanced. Engines are timed off the crank position so forget the cam position.
Or you can start again. Remove no 1 plug and turn the engine over until you feel compression under your finger over the plug hole. Set the timing on the crank to 10 degrees before tdc. Position the distributor so that the point of the star is directly opposite the exciter coil in the distributor. The rotor button should now be facing no 1 cylinder plug lead adjust the HT leads so that they will fire in the 1342 firing order. Start the engine and with a timing light attached to no 1 plug lead adjust the timing mark to specifications by turning the body of the distributor.

94 Isuzu Rodeo 2.6L. I replaced head gasket and now the motor will turn but no start. I did not mess with timing during procedure but did replace rotor and dist cap while it was out. Also tried to replace...

remove the distributor cap and check inner part of the cap there should be a black pin (Carbon Look) in the center of the cap, if you only have a hole, the pin fell of and without it the spark won't jump from the coil to the spark plugs. If it fell, take the old cap, and take out that pin and put it on the new one.

How to line up no1 cylinder on TDC on 1998 Daewoo Lanos SOHC. Have got the cam sprocket on its correct marking, but the crankshaft pulley has only pick up coil on it no timing mark Thanks John Gold Coast...

Ibring piston to compression stroke. Apiece of tissue in the plug hole will blow out and then turn crank by hand until the piston is at the top. There should be timing mstks on the crankshaft pully.no timing marks? Then ease the crank around untill the piston starts to go done you can feel the piston with a straw. Note, the crank pully keyway more than like be at the 12 oclock position. good luck

2000 isuzu trooper 3.2 v-6 dohc camshaft timing marks pulled camshafts to do valve job and need to align marks on drive gear and cams

It's more to it than aligning the marks since the cam pulleys turn about three times or more to one turn of the camshaft on this engine. You need to find someone that is experienced on this vehicle.
