Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Bought a checker fuel pump module.after having it put in the truck did well for a week and started stalling.now it will run about 10 minutes and start getting sluggish, then stall.i can go back in about 2 hours and start it.replaced fuel filter and cap and rotor.i heard that the cheaper fuel pumps are garbage, but it has a 2 year warranty and another guy told me that the cheap fuel pump problem only applies to older ones where you buy the pump itself, not the whole module
Though they are more expensive, I only use dealer pumps. With so much "outsourcing" to foreign counties there is little or no quality control, especially in aftermarket parts...Dealer stuff is still slightly better and therefore a bit more reliable. It sounds a lot like your pump is getting hot and binding and is likely defective. You can test fuel pressure to verify this or just replace the pump. Doing this by "remote control", it's possible that I'm wrong...that's why testing is important.
