Question about 2002 Ford Windstar Cargo

1 Answer

2003 Windstar running rough. 80K miles. Misses when auto trans shifts and rpm goes below the''2'' on the dial. Changed plugs and wires. Local parts store did diagnostic and said misfire on cylinder 2 and that it was probably fuel problem. Am I on the right track????

Have you tried fuel injector cleaner? That is probably what it is.

I would say yes, if it wouldn't let the car run, then yes the wire may be frayed now, repair the wires first and eliminate that problem . then have the codes read,

Hi, have Ford or Lincoln or Jaguar technician check C.O.P (Coils on Plugs). Now the 2003, 2004 and 2005 models have extended factory coverage to 10 years / 100,000 miles. Information is covered in a Customer satisfaction Program -07M07 from July 2007 that covered the 2003 year. A updae to this Program 07M07, Supplement #1 dated May, 2008 extended the coverage to include the 2004 and 2005 models. The 2003 coverage is for coils and gaskets.

Have the codes for the check engine light. Your local auto parts superstore usually do it for free.

Factory plugs are not always the best tool for the application. In your case, you use the vehicle for something that would be deemed as heavier usage as per your question. What you need is to contact your local dealer or Auto parts store for platinum tip or double platinum tip plugs for a greater spark, o r you could replace with the recommended pluga and regap them for a greater spark...

Dash board light came on, says ETC PWR?

"ETC PWR" means the "power mode" switch on the tranny is on. this lets the tranny rev above 3000 RPM, and is normal. look for a button near the center console and punch it. as for running rough, have someone check to make sure a coule of wires didn't get switched. also, you shoulda changed the plugs, too.

Check your transmission fluid which is usually done with the engine warm and running!
If the tran fluid is low add some Lucas Trans Fluid from your local auto parts store!
The knock makes me believe your low on trans fluid!
