Id start with the battery. If its ok then the starter is bad. P.S. check the fuses.

I have a 96 camaro z28 when i turn the key on the dash comes to life but when the key is turned all the way nothing happens no whining not even a click. Im wondering if its something to do with electronics...

Check the heavy cable from battery to starter is ok. Put current directly onto the starting terminal on starter motor. If nothing happens the starter is dead. Make sure the battery isd charged

Camaro just dies going down the road, stop the car ,it always starts and runs fine

Try cleaning the ignition key with brake cleaner or other solvent. Theft deterrent system may be losing contact with key. Also check for a loose wire in the big rectangular wire junction located about halfway between dash and floor. Had the same problem with a 96 formula. hope this helps

96 z 28 wont start

The Alt is okay but the battery won't keep a charge? Replace the battery. At least take it to an auto parts store, and have them do a load test.

Your fuel pump is electric. When you turn the key on it pumps up. After it has developed the needed pressure, it no longer pumps, hence you won't hear it working anymore.

Diagnose your problem going through the various systems. Right now you have a problem with the starting system. It sounds like, from your explanation, that the battery is bad.
If your battery checks out, and then you have the alternator checked out, you have an electrical drain. This may be tough to find.

After you replace your battery, wait 10 minutes, then try to start your Camaro. If it doesn't start, (Key to the Off position), take the Positive battery cable loose. Wait 2 minutes, then reconnect it. You are resetting the computer.
