Question about 1999 Ford Contour

1 Answer

My 1999 Ford Contour can't run under 1/4 tank.

My 1999 Ford Contour SE can't run under 1/4 tank. Starts lugging and running very rough so that it's difficult to drive- Eventually it wont start and acts like its out of gas if it goes to low but has (once) been run under that quarter of a tank after it was already running. Would really like to get back the use of the last quarter of my tank.

I am trying to find the ABS fuse for my 1999 Ford Contour SE. The problem is the manual's with ABS locations show a different box layout then what mine looks like. http://ww2.justanswer.com/up

There is a possibility that you are looking at the layout for another fuse panel... check under the hood and under the dash on the driver side.

Where is the fuse box and location for a 1999 Ford contour se

The passenger compartment fuse panel is located on the driver's side under the instrument panel. The power distribution box is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment.

Hope that helps.

1999 ford contour se custom sport check engine light stays on recently had new alternator replaced and when i turn heat on it only runs on hi otherwise car is running ok will the check engine light go off...

Contour's are notorious for check engine lights. Mine has been on for years. The only way really to reset the CEL is to rent or buy a code reader and record the codes that are stored. Information on CEL codes is available on the internet. FYI the most common code for contour's are P0420 and P0421. These won't cause any driveability issues. As for your heater problem, your fan blower relay is toast

When the car starts the engine races for a few minutes and then runs rough. There's a loud hissing near the carburator.

That's fuel injected I believe, but try to locate that hiss, and see if you notice any vacuum lines of that need to be reconnected in same area as line.

no problem. If you are getting that low of voltage on a load then you might want to test the alternator as well to make sure it is running at capacity.
