Question about 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer

1 Answer

Headlight problem. I purchased a 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer ES and drove it 400 miles the next day. Half of that time was in the dark. Headlights worked fine. I stopped for dinner, and when I started it again the headlights didn't work. (Highbeams were, and continue to be, fine.) Ever since then, the headlights have worked intermittently. Sometimes they both work, sometimes only one or the other does, and sometimes neither do.

SOURCE: my headlights only work on highbeam.

Yes there is a relay switch that allows the low to high beam switch to occur. It shoud be mounted under the hood along the firewall. Check your manual too!

Thanks,

Mark

SOURCE: How to Change the Headlights in a 2008 Lancer ES

You shouldn't have to remove the entire headlight assembly to change the bulbs; They should either twist out, snap out, or have a spring clip that holds the bulbs in.

Open the hood, remove any panels covering the light, and unhook the wiring harness. The light is generally held in place with four screws or bolts. Remove them, but mark the allignment. The light pretty much just screws out.

Changing the ATF will not make it impossible to use the shift lever. You should first check that the brake lamps are working, if not then check the fuse. The shift gate lock is actuated by a switch connected to the brake lamps system. Hope that helps

There are adjusting screws on the top and side of each headlight. I like to get on a really dark road at night and set them to how I like them without blinding oncomming drivers. Good luck
