Should be listed in your owner's manual. However, the reset pushbutton performs two functions. The first function is to find or select the change oil light. The second function is to reset the change oil light. So, when the manual says press the reset pushbutton, it means to press and release, press and release, press and release, ... and so on.... until the change oil light is selected. The change oil light is selected when it begins to flash on and off. Once the change oil light is selected by it flashing on and off, press and hold the reset pushbutton again in solidly to actually reset the light. Hold the reset pushbutton in until the chimes sound. This confirms the change oil light is reset and the light should go out.

*Remember* before you even begin resetting using the reset button, the car must be in neutral or park or it will not work. or If you do not have an oil change reset button located on the drivers side inside the fuse panel. Turn ignition key to the on position (with engine off). Depress accelerator pedal 3 times. Oil change light should blink and you should here a beep, light will go out. Turn ignition key off.

Hope this helps...

I have a 2003 Olds Alero. Last week the oil change light came on. That same day, it suddenly started running rough when idling. Things I've done to try to fix the problem: * Fuel pump was replaced...

Is the check engine light on? I'm sure changing the oil had nothing to do with how the vehicle is running now unless they didn't replace the oil drain plug or added enough oil.

Change oil light

After you change your oil you must reset your system to start tracking your next oil change. Simply take off your fuse panel cover. There is a red button in there marked RESET. To do this simply turn your ignition switch on (not started). Then press the RESET button once. You will now see your Change Oil Light blinking. Hold down on the button until you hear it beep. Turn off your ignition switch. Now start your Alero, the light should be off.
