SOURCE: how do you set the timing on a 01 yamaha yz 125 or

melting spark plug is too lean. exhaust gas high temps caused by too much air. your oil to fuel ratio is correct, but your air to fuel ratio is not. adjust your needle clip position to add more fuel to the carb by lowering the C clip. this will raise the needle, giving you more fuel for the same amount of air. also check air filter element for tears.

Dirt bike starts up fine and sounds good. But under full throdle it spits and splatters. never really hitting the "sweet spot"

change fuel mix either up or down on ration to find the best mix then play with fuel mix setting on carbi to fine tune you will be roosting flat out in no time
PS stick a new spark plug in each test with fuel mix just to eliminate fouled plug from the equasion

There is unnecessary noise when the engine is running and hard to start, the spark plug is always wet like an oil

As for the noise in the engine, could be alot of things. If your plug is very oily, then it's probably fouled. That would make it difficult to start & possibly run rough. Pretty common with 2 strokes. Sounds like your mixture on your fuel has too much oil in it when you mix it. Make sure you're mixing your fuel properly then I would check on rebuilding and adjusting your carb if your fuel mix is right. Hope this helps

The oil light on my dt125x is lit up. does that just mean any 2-strokr engine oil can go in the oil tank behind the back left pannel. confused cos the stuff thats already in there smells like it may be...

If you don't put pre-mixed fuel in your tank then the tank in the back is probably a fuel mix oil tank. You'd use an injector oil to fill that so it has something to mix into your fuel. Engine crankcase oil is a different thickness and wouldn't work for that application.

Fuel ratio 2 stroke yahama YZ125

32:1--40:1 Any less than a 32:1 mix and she will smoke and foul plugs(not to mention wasting money on mix) Any more than a 40:1 mix and your top end ect. is not being lubed enough which will lead to costly top end and engine repair..... 40:1 is good for a synthetic mix...And 32:1 for a non synthetic mix.... hope this helps ya....

I'm getting fuel in the crankcase oil of my 1994 YZ 125

Unless I am mistaken, (Honda guy myself, not fully up to date on mid to late 90's Yamaha) it is a 2 stroke so fuel air mix runs through the crankcase anyway but, excessive amounts are usually caused by a stuck needle valve in the carb. If it is getting into the gearbox oil then you probably have a bad crank shaft seal which requires major surgery.

Good luck hope this helps.

Hi there i have a yamaha dtr 125 thats smokes

Assuming you are using two stroke engine oil, the pump is pumping too much into the gas. DO NOT use motor oil in the gas. If 2 stroke oil is being used, then get a new pump, fix the one you have or disconnect the pump and mix the oil with gas when you fill up. Four ounces of 2 stroke oil per gallon of gas equals the standard 32/1 fuel mix.
