Question about Power Motorcycles

Bikes has 28,000 miles on it been at highway speeds it feels like loss of power split second,

Shop changed needles in injectors, spark plugs. oil change. checked regulator and volts came back good sometimes engine stays on when does bike feels like gonna stall ?

Hi Robert, and the usual suspects are:
1. Spark plugs in bad condition or partially fouled.
2. Spark plug cables in bad condition or leaking.
3. Spark plug gap too close or too wide.
4. Faulty ignition coil, module and or sensor.
5. Battery nearly discharged.
6. Damaged wire or loose connections at battery terminals especially the ground cable at BOTH ends ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
7. Intermittent short circuit due to damaged wire insulation.
8. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
9. Fuel tank vent system plugged or carburetor vent line closed off.
10. Carburetor controls misadjusted.
11. Damaged carburetor or intake seals.
12. Loose or dirty ignition module connector at crankcase.
13. Faulty MAP, CKP, and or CMP sensors.
14. Incorrect valve timing.
15. Weak or broken valve springs.
16. Damage intake or exhaust valve.

Why does it hesitate for a split second only at highway speeds?

How do I fix the loss of power when it is running


check your clutch first if the engine speeds up but the bike does not.
If clutch is fine have the carb checked and if that is fine have a compression test.
Also ...are your filters clean.


Might be that the spark is weak or fuel is being introduced at a pressure too low for efficient combustion.

There are may things to be checked, e good bike shop would be my choice rather than diagnosing it myself. If the bike has been well cared for and has not done many, many thousands of miles it should still be good for a few more years......it can always be overhauled/rebuilt

fuel system is blocked, carb not refilling at speed necessary,. check fuel lines not kinked, check fuel tap, check vacuum pipe not split, clean carb

Power loss


In the absence of any FI codes/light, my next suspect would be the ignition coils. If the old plugs showed soot on ONE of the plugs, that coil might be your problem. The only reliable check is a spark tester that read the output while the bike is running.

I have an 89 ford bronco 2 with a 2.9 liter it sat around for 2 years without being started. I replaced the plugs, rotor, cap, ran fuel injector cleaner through it several times, checked cylider...


check the spark plug wires are attached all the way till it snaps, pull each spark plugs, any black deposits on any plug means it isn't firing(faulty plug,or wire) last of all take off each injector wire and notice if there is a change in idle speed (plugged injector)

New spark plugs last 10-15 minutes of riding


Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, the only factor to be checked that could foul a sparkplug for your bike would be the 2T oil injector/pump. There is too much 2T oil going to the combustion chamber. Either the injector would require restricting or for some reason, there is also 2T oil in the fuel tank (pre-mix).
