Hi, you can do this with the case still fitted to the machine, but it may be best to remove the case to save any broken glass contaminating the oil, with care break the glass and prise out the old window, take care not to damage the hole the glass sits in, clean up before fitting the new glass, some glass windows come with a band of sealent around them , if this is not the case, apply a small amount of sealent not silecone, and carfully push in the new window untill home, take care not to damage the window outer ring keep checking as you push in that it is square and allter position by pushing on opposite end until square, easy job, requires some finness

Change your oil pressure sender switch. It should fix the problem. If it does not you will need to replace the oil pump.

Zzr1100 oil consumption

I remember a training course a few years ago with Suzuki, they said that up to a point, as the more mdern bikes run hotter and or more efficient combustion, they could burn some oil without it actually smoking like a steam train. either you are burning it or it's going in to cooling system via head gasket, which is unlikely as a litre is a fair old lot. suggest you get your compression checked with a tester, and check all of them, look out for differences, maybe just one worn bore.

Hook up a manifold gauge (mechanical temporary use gauge, used by mechanics) and test the oil pressure. You probably need to replace the gauge. The computer sends info through a printed circuit board behind gauge cluster and sometimes you have to replace the whole gauge cluster.

Fluctuation on the oil pressure gauge reading

The oil pressure sending unit is a sensor with an internal diaphragm, if the internal diaphragm is damaged , or the line to the diaphragm is blocked you can get this kind of fluctuation on the oil pressure gauge.

The oil pressure value must be read by installing a mechanical gauge near to the oil pressure switch and checking the pressure.

If pressure is ok, replace the sending unit. If there is a real pressure drop, check the oil pump.

If you still get fluctualtion after replacing the oil pressure sending unit, replace the oil pressure gauge.
