That's correct. I'd recommend to fix it in repair shop rather than on your own if you don't know how to solder.

It sounds like a stuck key on your keyboard. You can try dusting off the keyboard with compressed air. If you see any dirt or debris you can try to remove it gently from the keyboard. You may have to replace the keyboard. If that is the case you can replace it yourself or have someone competent do it for you.

You will have to contact the administrator of the computer to change it for you. You have been blocked from using it. The Admin is the only one who can unblock it for you. Whether it is someone in your home or at your workplace or your ISP Internet Service Provider

If you want to restore factory defaults then installed on the ThinkPad T500 is a program called Rescue and Recovery, which helps you diagnose and fix problems with the Windows operating system. To access this software, reboot your T500 and press the oval-shaped blue ThinkVantage button -- located on the upper-left area of your keyboard -- when the ThinkPad logo appears. When the Rescue and Recovery menu appears, choose the option that describes what you want to do. Follow the directions on the screen to run the appropriate action.

- Did you look at the buttom of the pc. Might be a serial number or something similar.
- There should be a back up drive (drive Z: I think it's called, it has the pre installed programs).
- If there isn't any Z: drive, then you should have been given some CD's or DVD's when you bought the pc. They should have the program as well.

Two things. You might have a problem with the inverter or with the backlight lamp.
You need to open your Laptop Screen. Normally the screws are hiding underneath the rubber stops. It would be better if you can find a LCD disassembly manual for your laptop else just write down what and account everything that you do. Check for the Fluorescent like lamp if its burnt out. If it is then you need to replace that. If not, then you need to replace the Inverter(a long rectangular shaped circuit board. Normally it is just at the bottom of the LCD screen.) Note the product code written on the inverter and order it. This should fix that problem.
