Hi there! My name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. It is my pleasure to assist you. Please reset the receiver by unplugging it from the wall for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds please plug the receiver back in, allow it to power back on by itself, it will acquire signal and download the guide. If issue persists and you currently have the receiver's power cord connected to a surge protector, please by pass the surge protector and connect the cord directly to a wall outlet. If issue persists after performing this steps please email me at: kimberly.escobar@dish.com for further assistance. You can also contact us directly at: 1800-333-3474.

You have a 922 and it sucks. They are the worst receivers and it needs to be replaced.

If you have a clear view of the south western sky, the receiver will receive most channels (after running a check switch test, menu, 6-1-1). You will not receive most HD (which comes on Eastern Arc satelllites not on that antenna, or on satellite 129, not on that antenna) and depending on your DMA you may not get locals, but most cable channels will be available, at least in Standard Definition.

0273,0277. Try these codes. If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Common set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the "device's brand name" in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Surf the sites by type in the brand name to your set, in its search box.
Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window and the Search will start at once as you type in, and will show you all the related posts. It will make surf easy.

There is an installation problem, and you need a technician. When the receiver reboots, it sends a boost of power to the LNBF until it gets a signal in return, or gets a response of no signal. If you have damaged lines, a damaged receiver, damaged LNBF, or low signal reception on your antenna, a rebooted receiver will, for a very short time, boost the signal enough to get reception. Then, the receiver will drop the power back to the correct levels, thereby eliminating the short term reception boost. A technician can repair your installation to improve the reception, as long as there is Line Of Sight to the correct satellites.

First, ensure your tv is using the highest resolution possible (Usually 1080 for flat screens) by using an HDMI cable from the receiver to the television, and that you are on the correct input. Second, ensure your tv is not sizing the video by using the 'picture size' or 'aspect' or 'ratio' key on the remote that came with your tv (Not your DISH remote). Third, tune your DISH receiver (with your DISH remote) to an HD channel (for VIP model receivers, when you tune the channel to an HD channel, an opaque white 'HD' appears insude the blue box at the top of the screen). Fourth, hit the star key on the remote, while watching the screen. On the right hand side, near the top, it will cycle as you hit repeatedly the star key, the style of screen widening. Hit the key as often as you need to make the screen appear the way you want it to. The receiver will remember your setting for all HD channels. When finished with the HD channel, tune your receiver (with your DISH remote) to a SD channel (any channel in the guide that does not have the HD icon). Repeat the fourth step.

For Hopper/Joey family receivers, hit menu, settings, screen size. Follow the instructions to resize your screen to match your preference. When finished, repeat step four above on each an HD and a SD channel.

If your TV and sound system both have a Digital Optical Out/In you can use a TOSLink cable (an optical cable) to connect your TV directly to your sound system, and remove the connection between the DISH receiver and the sound system. As long as your sound system is on the right input, all sound accompanying the picture on screen will go to your sound system. Most TVs also have an option to turn off the internal speakers, if not just reduce your volume all the way down to avoid that weird ghost sound effect. If you use your sound system all the time for volume, you can program the sound system to your DISH remote's AUX, and even set the remote so that it only sends volume and mute commands to the sound system (that way you don't have to dance between sat, tv, and aux all day, just leave it in sat mode).

To program your remote to the sound system, follow the instructions on the sheet you got with the remote (yeah, right like anyone kept that) http://www.mydish.com/support/remotecodes you can use that link to program your remote. You can also use the learning mode if your remote has a little glossy square on the top left side and you have the original remote to the sound system. (Learning mode can be gleaned from the remote manual Remote Control Manuals)

After programming the aux device, and verifying that it changes the volume up, down, and mute, THEN:

Hold AUX until light blinks 3 times, hit pound (#), Volume Up, 0 (Zero), pound (#), SAT, then test to make sure it goes up and down.
