The ballast for the bulb is the culprit. That is the circuit board directly wired to the bulb. You can get a replacement on line at:
TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy It's not difficult to change it yourself .

Seems to be the inverter board that controls the bulbs! With the TV on if you shine a torch at the screen can you see a faint picture? If so it is the inverter board that needs replacing!

Yes, there are three. The chassis fan, the exhaust fan and the fan for DMD.
The chassis fan is going to be mounted behind an intake air filter on the right side of the cabinet from the rear view. I am providing you the service manual.

Dead pixels can not be repaired.
The model# WD-52525 you provided is for a DLP TV.
If you are seeing white dots on the screen it is due to a bad DMD chip or light engine. Unfortunately, it is not a cheap fix.

Good luck

The monitor link is not a standard DVI connection, it was used to connect a Mitsubishi HD set top box. You can connect your cable DVR using component video cables and get HD that way, up to 1080i but not 1080p

Right next to the other controls on the TV, it is recessed so you will need a paper clip or ball point pen to press it.

Hi Terrence
Probably bad connections in the lamp base.
Heat damaged or corroded or Over temperature sensor tripped.
When it goes out next, Bump it or Tap it to see if its mechanical contact problem. That will help diagnose where the problem is
Good Luck

The pop was a high voltage arc of electricity that blew some vital components on the main circuit board. The unit is of no use now. Repairs are far more than replacing the TV.

Ballasts were sometimes problems with this set, but I also ran into problems with lamp thermal sensor. It's a small rectangular device sort of cream color and about 1/8th X 3/16th X 3/4 inch in size with lead coming out of one end. Also check safety interlock switch, which is actuated by lamp access cover being properly closed.
