20 Most Recent Sony CMT-M100MD\W CD Shelf System Questions & Answers

The error means that the player is unable to read the table of contents (TOC) on discs any more.If it's an occasional error then you can try switching to TDK blanks as they seem to be easier for flaky players to read, but if it's happening regularly to all discs then your machine is unrepairable due to a total lack of spare parts.

On the plus side, there are millions of MD units now lying unused as folks have moved on from them and as they're mostly worthless people don't generally bother with trying to sell them. Almost every piece of MD gear I own has come free of charge via my local FreeCycle and Freegle groups. Whatever you do, don't buy a used player from anyone: they're all getting on now and the TOC error is an age-related fault which may occur at any time.

If you wish to see exactly what features other machines have then visit the superb equipment browser at minidisc.org. The site is hosted but n longer maintained though so some information is out of date, but it's still the most comprehensive source of free information about MD available.

Sorry here's probably no hope for your player, but I hope that my reply has given you a practical alternative means of solving your problem.

The C13 read error on Sony minidisc means that the Table Of Contents (TOC) cannot be read.

The Minidisc is a magneto-optical device that uses combined laser and magnetic technology to write ad re-write the tracks, and magnetic head only to read.

If the problem is only with a specific disk or with few disks, then this is probably because of faulty media. In that case the content on the specific disks may be lost.

If this happens with every disc, including blanks, or with the majority of disks, then it is usually because the magnetic heads are dirty or faulty.

Additionally, when problem is the head, the motor will spin the disk, if motor does not spin at all, then the microswitch that starts motor and the motor itself must be tested.

To clean the heads (there is more than one on a minidisc) use Sony Dvm-12cld : Minidisc Head Cleaner.

If that does not work, the heads must be replaced doing a precision soldering inside minidisc deck, and without moving or damaging nearby laser assembly, and other parts in there. In that case better having the job done by a technician, as this is a very delicate repair, the part from sony is not expensive.

Had the same problem. The display of the home cinema system kept showing "sony demo". I went to the system menu and reset all settings to factory!

Hi Darlene, the batteries of your Sony headset, are housed inside the right speaker, you will have to remove the pad, you will find the speaker cover, you must remove the four screws and carefully remove the cover and there you will see the batteries , are from Nickel Hydrogen, Sony part number:
1-756-109-11 BATTERY, NICKEL HYDROGEN
replace batteries, do not dispose of them in the trash
then do the reverse process and you will have your headphones working again
for the provision of batteries, you should look in your area for a Sony parts site
I send you the link of the MDR-F975R service manual, which are similar
I hope you can solve the battery change
