Although you do not say what brand and model you are talking about, generally speaking mosfets blow out because they are shorting out. When you install a new one, be especially careful the pins do not short out to the chassis. Also you may have a bad speaker that is causing the mosfet to short.

Bad ground sounds like you may have paint or undercoating stopping the ground from making good contact or unhook the remote wire and run a small wire from the main power to the remote hook up and see if it works ...... May have a faulty remote

Hello canelo63,

Your question appears under the product listing for the Dual XPA4100 but the in the text you say the amp is actually a Jensen, so it's not possible to provide specific connection information.

But most bridgeable amps can be connected to a single subwoofer and the other two channels used to drive a set of regular speakers. I'd connect the front speakers to channels 1 and 2 and wire the subwoofer to the bridge connections of channels 3 and 4. On the XPA4100, the bridge terminals are the first (negative) terminal on channel 4 and the last (positive) terminal on channel 3.

make sure power and ground are where they are suppose to be and speaker wires are not mixed up. but it sounds to me like the amp is junk

Make sure the amplifier is turning on. Remember ther is three wires that power the amp Battery constant, Ground which in a fiberglass boat run ground to battery not motor, Plus make sure the remote wire is hooked to power, generally it is switched power. But if the amp is not turning on temporarily hook remote and power together to battery and see if the amplifier turs on. Second be sure you have a good set of RCA cables hooking the radio to the amp. And finally check and make sure the gain is turned up on the amplifier.

Both "+" connections on the cap are tied together within the cap, as are both "-" connections. Lanzar provides two sets to allow the cap to be more easily shared between the power/ground lines of two amplifiers. If you have only one amp, connecting to one or both of the +/- sets should not matter (although connecting to both +/- sets might reduce the resistance between the cap and the power wiring of your amp).

Depends on a couple things.. I'll try to guide you as much as possible and if you have any question just let me know.

If you are running these subs on a ported enclosure or band pass, do you know the tuning frequency of the box? If it is sealed, I would assume it is 35 Hz + -5.

Also, can you select the frequency for the subs from the Head unit? If so, bring your HU's xover at 50-6- Hz. On the amp itself, turn the gain at 3/4 and you could either get the amp's xover at 50hz or below (that'll depend on your taste). the wiring of the woofer should be in parallel so that you can drop the impedance to 2 Ohms.

The band reject filter is for letting through "other" frequencies than the ones you have specified... which I see it as a good idea so leave it to off,
The band reject frequency, leave it at 40 Hz
Your woofer does great at low frequencies, so the bass boost frequency set it for 60-70 Hz.
Also, since you'll be using this for subs, make sure you have yout dial to LP (Low Pass/Through/Hi Pass)
The high pass dials you don't have to mess with as they aren't used on Low pass.

Something to note. If your stereo has Low Pass frequency adjustment, the amp will already be receiving only low frequencies, so, if you want to leave it in Through (or full) it will not matter, thus I had to admit that this Amp gives you room for seting the audio exactly as you want.

This will be the setting I would use according to my experience and my ear... but, it will depend on your taste as you'll be the one riding it.

its not really a POT (Potentiometer) but a rotary knob, you can try radio shack or digi-key. if you can't find one, you can probably fix the one you have, you just have to open it up, clean it and re-adjsut the inside of it, be carefull becaus there are small parts that can easily brake.....

You can try contacting the manufacturer to see if it can be repaired.

When you have this type of problem, it's generally due to the rotary encoder failing. It's unlikely anyone else will have parts.

Could be you have a bad connection at the battery or at the amp or it could be that you are using a battery source wire to the amp that is way too small. Is the voltage at near 12 volts when the amp is switched off? If it is then either of the two problems I mentioned may need to be addressed. Don't forget to check and see that your ground wire is big enough and short enough and attached to the chassis good enough to carry all the amperage that it must during operation. The size of the fuse on the amp will give you a pretty good indication of which wire size you should be using for both the ground and the hot wires to the amp. A side note: be sure to keep your ground wire very short. On the order of 18 inches or less. A long ground wire can cause some kinds of problems. Good luck.
