Samsung Galaxy Note 4: power on off loop:

I have a Note 4 also.. When I updated to one of the newer OS it started power on off looping when the battery got to a low percentage. This would freak out any User. It is normal for many people however. It is a Google software firmware issue that will probably be fixed after the next patch update.

In the mean time, if when your battery gets really low and you get the power on off loop, just charge the device or pop in a charged battery.

There is no fix for this right now. You just have to deal with it.

If your battery is higher then 15% left and it is looping, then the possibility is that either you tried to/or the system automatically tried to update your phone, but the transfer was interrupted or corrupted some how.. could be bad connection between the towers or the WiFi router you were on.. or any number of other things.

If you are in the US, best to drop by a local Best Buy store. Call ahead and ask if they have a Samsung Experience Shop inside. Not all Best Buys have one.

Ask to have Best Buy transfer your call to the rep there if possible (I'm not sure if they have a phone there.. if not you may have to just visit the Best Buy store with the Samsung Experience Shop inside there..

Bring your device and your charging cables/adapter just in case, make sure the battery is charged).. Ask if the Samsung Manager can help you and when s/he will be available.

That person will have the knowledge and the equipment inside the Samsung Experience section to get your phone back to normal again, however note that you may lose all your data files on the phone. It most likely will have to be factory reset and possibly reFlashed with the OEM firmware.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4G: SIM slot not reading SIM card:

It sounds like the SIM card slot tray is damaged and needs to be replaced.. It's the connectors touching the SIM card that may be having the problem..

If this is a new phone from a dealer, take it back to the store if you are still under the store's warranty..

If not, you are under warranty by Samsung.. use the Samsung+ app available in Google Play store to contact Tech Support about this issue OR call 1-800-SAMSUNG

If you got this phone used from someone and you are trying to use it.. try checking the IMEI number to see if it is not blacklisted. If it is, then you know why you can not use your SIM card:

Make sure Wells Fargo has your correct phone number and they should text you it. That also means that your device should have texting enabled.

A Factory Reset is the only way. You lose everything on the phone and it will be squeaky clean and brand new. I would advise NOT putting a password on it if you can't remember it. One would usually use a notable number, word, or pattern that you could not ever forget.

I use my year of birth which was a very long time ago, the last 4 digits of my parents phone number, and one particular keyword.

if you are trying to use someone else's WiFi connection.. example you are at the airport and the device can't find a network connection.. it means that where you are in that area.. the network connection is too weak to be useful to your device or that the server's router is on but not able to stream any data to you.

if it is at your home, it means that you may need to allow WiFi access to your device. you may need to change the channel of the router, or try just power it off for a few minutes and then power it back on to reset it. It could be that your router is not syncing correctly with your ISP. Call your service provider and see if it can be fixed on their side first. If not, they can work with you to step by step eliminate what it might or might not be.

In your notification drop down quick settings is your auto sync function turned on? It sounds like that could be the solution to your problem, if you have to refresh your inbox each time

This is a safety function so as to not blow out your eardrums.

You can install an app from the Google Play App Store that will increase the volume of music.

Or, you can buy headphones with a separate physical volume control on the earphones that can control the volume.

It could be one of any different things why it is not charging..

1. is the battery deformed? you may have over-charged the battery and now it won't charge. How to check: take off the battery back and the battery, feel the battery to see if you feel a bulge.

you can also try spinning the flat side of the battery on a flat smooth surface. if it spins fast it may be time to get a new battery.

2. is there lint or some pants pocket debris or dirt inside the charging port on the bottom of the phone? use something non metal that won't break inside, it needs to be thin enough to move around and poke around the bottom, not interfering with the chip that sticks out.

before you do that.. turn off the phone and take out the battery just in case. you don't want to short the charging port, so why risk it.

you can use a thin side wooden tooth pick (not the thick rounded ones, they won't fit), or you can use an unused plastic brush tooth pick that's available at most stores like Walgreens, CVS, Safeway, etc.. not-charging-tried-original-wire-c42sdu52tip34gjoftdmfcql-4-0.png

3. If nothing comes out, try using a different wall charger adapter that works for your Samsung device. Many cell phones use a 3volt charger that won't work with Samsung smartphones because non-Note Galaxy phones need a 5volt charger. Your Note 4 phone needs a more powerful charging adapter that can draw even more energy to the device. The others will just trickle charge it or may not work at all. Also, the cord itself. You can't just use any micro USB charging cable. You need to use one that can push enough electricity to your device. So it has to be a Samsung smartphone compatible one. If you have ruled this out..

4. Is the wall outlet bad? Try a different wall outlet. Example: at the airport we tried all the wall outlets in the same area, none of those charged the device. We thought it could be the charging cable or the adapter that was dead. Then we went to another area in the airport and tried again. This time we were charging the phone fine. Cable and charging adapter were apparently working great.

5. If the battery is good, but it is a non original manufacturer's battery, does it still have all parts of the battery intact? On many non-OEM batteries there is a plastic foot glued to it so that the battery fits inside the compartment snugly. If this has fallen off and you have a gap in between the battery and battery compartment, whereas the battery can shift inside.. if so, the phone can't charge the battery correctly because the battery is not set tightly inside the phone. If this is the case, slide a folded piece of paper or something in between the bottom of the battery and the battery compartment to make it a tighter fit. Then try charging it.

6. If that's not it.. what happens when you try jiggling the charging cable connected to the phone.. try angling the cable head to the left or right.. does it only charge when in a specific position? it could be the charging cable or the charging port that needs fixing..

7. If that was not the case, and everything you've tried doesn't work, it could just be the charging port on the phone is bad. Bring it to your local cellular repair shop. It should cost around $35 to $50 to fix.

if you have not changed any setting related to battery, then you may check after doing "Restore factory settings" of the phone.
If the problem still persists, then you need to get the phone checked as there may be some hardware problem.

No there isn't. You can't do it with texts, but with calls, the person RECEIVING the call needs to have your picture attached in their contacts list.

Some apps like Whats App and Viber will allow you to do it though.

I should point out, I am an iPhone expert, not a Samsung expert :>)

You can check a device's ESN or IMEI number at Swappa. You might find it safer to get a phone from Swappa as they blacklist accounts if some scam occurs. IF the account has a lot of satisfied customers of buyers of products of similar value, you have more confidence. Just don't buy a one off phone from a guy also selling a one off toothbrush. His recorded success at selling the toothbrush will not keep him from exiting stage right if he is paid hundreds for a phone. (It is pretty safe to ignore my unsanctioned wisdom if you have an adequate supply of common sense.)

Or, contact your carrier and see if they will do an ESN/IMEI check. Some will, some will not.

You might check this website: http://www.imei.info/news/2013-02/52290-black-list-checker/

But I have not tried to verify if that website is of legitimate assistance.

I'm not sure cash would leave my hand until the phone was activated but chances are you would be under a lot of pressure to pay and go. People get restless, even the honest ones.
