Lexmark X4270 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

typically faxing doesn't work on VOIP. i tried many times and sometimes it would go through although it said it didn't. other times it didn't work at all. VOIP has a limited bandwidth and the fax needs to send more info over the line than VOIP makes room for.

to have the best luck, stop all downloads and other network traffic while attempting to fax, so that there are no other programs or devices using the internet. the fax will have its best chance of working that way, although it probably still won't

here are some very good tips as well:

I would look for a dusty LED or sensor. They're used to let the printhead to find its position. Once cleaned the head should align properly.

You may be out of ink, or communications between the computer and printer could be malfunctioning.

It insists there is a Cartridge problem on the Printer............ In this Case take out the Paper from the Paper Feed Tray........ Unplug the Power Supply from the Printer.......... Remove both the Cartridges from the Printer.......... Now take a size 10 Envelope fold it so that it should become like a thin long strip........ Now Insert that Envelope on the left side corner of the Printer and move it from right to left and left to right as fast as u can for about 10 times.......... Now Insert the Ordinary Papers onto the Printer and insert both the catridges and Turn on the Printer...... Blinking Stopped...........Issue Resolved....... Still Blinking: Remove both the Cartridges take a Paper Towel turn the catridges direction so that u can see a Copper plate with small boxes on it....... Just wipe it twice or thrice with the Paper Towel.......... Now insert it and Power on the Printer and see whether the Lights are still blinking if it is still blinking...... Make sure that you're using genuine Lexmark cartridges. Also, check if the firmware of your printer is up to date. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.

Performing a maintenance on the cartridges would also help. To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.

I have to be quite honest I am still suprised the problem here is still not as published as it should be. The problem you are having is with Windows XP, more notably Service Pack 2. It is not a particular device problem, but rather a general communications problem between specific XP components which was due to XPs new security center.

The fixes are mostly passed around on sites related to networking, because the biggest issue is a "NO CONNECTIVITY" error it produces with certain network adapters. If you search around the web you'll find several fixes. Apply them all followed by Microsoft's TCP/IP (Winsock) patch and you should be up to snuff. I suffered the same problem with my Lexmark as well as my Networking when I upgraded to SP2. Which I may add ticked me off alot. However, luckily I addressed the networking first. Because that in itself fixed the printer as well.

Hope you guys have a great week.

I have a Lexmark X4850, every time I print a job it prints a blank page first then the document. I have tried to tell it to print 1-1 or 1-3 but it continues to print that blank page first. any suggestions.
