There is usually a photo sensor in printers or sometimes a mechanical switch in the paper bay which notifies the printer logic that there is no paper, it is probably this system which has failed.

If you're really lucky sometimes paper dust covers the light sensor and a quick blast of compressed air resolved it, other than that its a repair job.

This is a common misconception with this model printer. People say that the roller does not drop down to pick up the paper. With this model printer, the pickup rollers ONLY drop when the paper tray is inserted. If you look on the top left edge of the paper tray towards the front of the printer you will see 1 1/2" to 2" section where the plastic edge is raised about 1/2 an inch. This raised part in the plastic actually serves as the mechanism for dropping the pickup rollers on to the paper.

So... The solution DOES HAPPEN TO BE cleaning or replacing the pickup rolers/tires. Rubber rejuvinator is the best for cleaning the rollers, but buying a whole can that you may only use once or twice may be a bit overkill. You can try cleaning them with soapy water if you do not have any rubber rejuvinator. DO NOT use alcohol, as this will dry out the rollers and shorten their lifespan even more.

On the back side of the printer (left side) below the parallel port and below the LAN (ethernet) port is the USB port. It looks like a barn door. The cable you would need to use is an A/B USB cable. it has the standard rectangular usb port on one end and the funny barn door that is used by printers and scanners on the other end. I hope this helps.

Hi milt_sheila,
This type of error message is often caused by either something has been changed in the program or your operating system. The easiest way to correct this is to uninstall and reinstall the program (Quattro Pro). Reinstalling the program will reset everything back to the state where it is working properly.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, if showing, right click printer icon on bottom of screen. Menu if showing, click jobs waiting.

Right click on the work you wish to cancel, menu click delete, that should clear the box of the print job.

Alternative. Click Start/Printers & Devices/Right Click Default Printer/Click Properties/Click See Whats printing/Right click print job menu/Click dropdown Delete.

I have the exact same problem. Print is great on the left side of the page, but too light to read on the right side. Have already replaced both drum and toner cartridge - still same problem.

Unless your 'new' cartridge has a used chip, it's likely that the pagecount for the Photoconductor/Drum Unit is at the replace stage. The Drum unit has a small waste toner collection container, is this becomes over-full, waste toner 'spews' into the printer with dire effects. This is ONE of the reasons that drum units have a rated pagecount. You can reset the drum counter without actually replacing the drum, but this should be used as a short term measure ONLY, AND AT YOUR OWN RISK. The Photconductor reset procedure is as follows.

RESETTING DRUM PAGE COUNTER

1) Leave the power on, insert toner cartridge, and leave door open
2) Press the cancel button and hold till the leds flash
3) Release cancel button and close toner cartridge door
