You can activate products by connecting the unit to a USB port of a computer. If The Tomtom Home application is installed on computer it will launch and update the unit. On page 1 of main Home menus there is an icon for activation.

To make things easy for you I am enclosing a screen capture from the HOME 2.7 application.

You can use the latest 'Tomtom Home' to purchase and download the AUSTRALIA map for your GO 700.
SYDNEY is included as well all major cities (ADELAIDE, BRISBANE, CANBERRA, DARWIN, MELBOURNE, PERTH, ETC...) and 99+ % of all Australian roads.
Hope it helps.

Hi,

You may have to un-install then reinstall the upgrade but first try a reset of the device. See below.

  1. Check that the battery is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.

  2. Remove the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, remove it.

  3. Reset your device.
Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the reset button on the bottom of the unit.

  4. Turn your device on.
Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.

  5. Insert the SD card
If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.
Hopefully this will resolve the issue. If not please let me know how you updated the device and what updates you applied. On any route summary screen tap the software version number and let me know what software version and map is installed.

If the reset resolves the problem please remember to accept and rate my answer. Many thanks for using FixYa.

If your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is frozen, won’t turn on or does not behave as it should, it can be fixed by resetting or restarting your TomTom device.
A reset will not delete any data from your device, with the exception of SMS messages on TomTom GO500/700.
  1. Connect your GO/ONE/RIDER to the power charger. If you have a power charger, use it to power your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER. If you do not have a power charger, make sure that the battery in your TomTom GO/ONE is fully charged.
Note: You need to charge your GO/ONE for at least 2 hours using the 12-24V cigarette lighter adapter.
  2. Reset your GO/ONE/RIDER. To reset the unit, you simply have to push a straightened paper clip (or something similar) into the RESET hole on the device.
    • On TomTom GO 910/710/510, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device.

    • On TomTom GO 700/500/300, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device with the word RESET right next to it.

    • On TomTom ONE, the RESET hole is located on the bottom of the device, with the word RESET right next to it (just below the SD card slot).

    • On TomTom RIDER, the RESET hole is on the bottom of the device, behind the SD card door. When opening the SD card door you will see the RESET hole on the left, right underneath the SD card slot.

  3. Your TomTom GO/ONE/RIDER is now reset. Finally, press and hold the power button for 2 seconds.

I have a 720 but I suspect it will be the same or similar.
Tap the screen and then Change Preferences. Use the forward arrow to scroll to the relevant page (5 on mine) where you will find Set Units. Tap this and then change whatever units you wish.

The green light indicates the unit is plugged into a active power supply and is charging.

Tomtom GO 700... | Answered on Dec 03, 2009

If you have an SD card in try removing that before you power up.

You may also want to try the hard reset.

Paper clip in the tiny hole by the card slot.

Push it in firmly whilst the unit is powered up (not too hard) for about 3 seconds then release

You may have to power down and then up again and even hold down the power button a little longer the first time you do this
