Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

There's a possibility that the navigation software is corrupted.
Have you tried to recover it from your backup (on your computer) ?
Otherwise, you'll want to use TomTom Home to see if you can download and re-install the software from the tomtom webiste.
Recently, TomTom has decided to limit/stop support (including software/maps, etc.) for certain (older) models of TomTom GPS. If your model is one of those, you're out of luck. TomTom is trying to have you buy a new model.

You might consider using a USB cable with an angled connector. This way the stress will no longer be on the TT motherboard but more on the housing. You can find such cable on eBay.

Go to the TomTom website. Download and install the Home Application (if you did not get a CD_rom with your device).

First of all it is obivous that a tomtom has a unique satellite address to recieve information, or they really wouldn't work, right? Any search from anyones tomtom would change your destination, which is defintly not the case. A unique satallite address means the address could defintly be cloned and monitored for activity. Just as they do with computers and modems. I mean they were able to catch BTK, a serial killer, by tracing a floppy disk all the way back to the exact computer he used to make it for christ sake. Tomtom probable doesn't want you to really think about the possibilaties of tracking your GPS, as this would probably be a violation of our privacy and probably our rights. I really think they can, but why they want to waste their time with the thousands of calls everyday. They should get their heads out of their azz and make some goddam money. It is a freaking Global Positioning Satallite reciever, and it would be the stupidest thing that I've ever heard that Tomtom can't find the location of it, come on. It seems they prey off our ignorance and only care about making money.

Make sure it is charged and when you let it run, make sure you can see the sky. The receiver in the TomTom should have direct contact with at least 5 or 6 satellites. When you are in buildings, or to close to high buildings, it could be the TomTon will notice.
Give it about 2 minutes to find its location, when you switch it on in a place where you did not switch it of. It needs more time to find and calculate where it is when you brought is somewhere else after switching off.

To update your unit you must create an account by supplying a valid email address. I suppose this is akin to a registration.
To effect that you install the Tomtom Home software on your computer. Then you connect the unit to the computer. When it asks you if you want to connect to the computer, tap Yes and the HOME software will open allowing you to update maps etc. You will be asked to create an account.

first of all make sure there is a clear line of sight with the sky ( middle on the bottom of the window) also important make sure the charger connects well. sometimes it needs a long time to find so try fixing satelite position while not moving for example at home near open window while charging

Just buy another GPS, a lot of devices have internal batteries and are not supposed to be changed/replaced, for the effort and the cost of the new battery and screw drivers and the time to pull it apart would be easier just to buy another second hand, plus if anything breaks while trying to fix it your stuffed
