It's tough trying to find OEM (manufacturer's) remotes. You could purchase a universal remote and program it to your set. Mintek doesn't have many codes and I believe 259 should do it. Good luck :)

I've had the same problem. I called Toshiba support and all they could say was to unplug it. Since I already had done that, they were going to send a service person over for a couple hundred bucks (which they get a cut of) to take it apart. Haa

Hello,

in this type of situation, you have no choice than to disassemble the unit, in order to gain access to the stuck disc in the built-in DVD part.

Once you are able to disassemble the unit, you can manually remove the stuck disc.

You will be needing a screw driver that can fit into the unit, loose out the screws and take the unit apart. Be careful while doing this.

Good luck.

On most DVD/CD players (including ones build into PC's and TV's) there is a hole in the front of the tray into which something like an opened paper clip can be pushed into to activate an emergency tray release to enable the user to recover a trapped disc. If this is not the case then you will need to "go in" unless your device is still under warranty in which case you should contact Mintek customer support (look in you user manual for information).

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc.

Please post back what you find.

To fix this problem, the following assumes you have unplugged and taken the back off the TV, and removed the metal shield around the mainboard. Open the back carefully as there are a couple of ground straps that must be unscrewed before the back is completely freed. There are plenty of lethal voltages inside the TV, so do this all at your own risk.

I'm an electrical engineer and I just fixed a DTV-265-D that I got with the same problem. I'm not 100% sure what fixed it, but I located the problem and can hopefully inspire some other findings by others. All TV/DVD buttons, and remote control signals go into a small miicrocontroller (U75) on the bottom left corner of the mainboard. This button converts all buttons and remote signals into a decoded data signal with a 5V level (normally high).

Just above and to the right of U75 is a small 8-pin chip that appears to split and send the data signal to the DVD module and the TV microcontroller at two different voltages. Pin 1 of this chip is on the bottom right of U18 and the pins increment counterclockwise. The important signals I found were:

-Pin2: 5V Data input from U75 microcontroller.
-Pin3: 5V data signal sent out the red wire of the connector next to U18 going to the DVD player.
-Pin5: 3.3V data signal sent to the main TV microcontroller.
-The other pins may switch this signal back and forth somehow, but I have no way of telling without a schematic

I found on my unit that something was causing the signal not to get properly to the TV or DVD player. I resoldered U18 and things started working again. I'm not 100% sure this is the final fix, but U18 IS THE ULTIMATE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. Neither buttons nor remote signals are ever getting to the DVD module or the TV. Once I resoldered, both signals on pin 3 and 5 were clean and everything worked again. U18 may need to be removed and replaced with a simple voltage divider to get the proper voltages to the proper modules, but I haven't tried to go there yet.

A way to test if this is your problem is to remove the red wire from the harness next to U18 (the harness going to the DVD player). Somehow connect this wire to pin 2 of U18 (there's a convenient test point nearby), reconnect power, buttons, etc. and CAREFULLY test. Now, ALL the buttons for DVD control will work again but not the buttons on the TV side will work. You should be able to eject the DVDs and this may have unlocked this weird state. You would have to restore the red wire back to it's original position to have proper normal operation.

I used (and would highly recommend using) an oscilloscope to fix and debug this. There are plenty of lethal voltages inside the TV, so do this at your own risk and only if you at least kind of know what you're doing with electronics. So far it's been a week and everything is still working fine.

I use a produce bag twist tie or a very thin pearing knife. After you push the eject button slide the twist tie in the bottom of the disc slot and the dvd should pop out.

I use a produce bag tie. Stick it in the bottom of the dvd slot after pushing the eject button and the disc pops out for me.

there should be a small hole you can push a small paper clip or anything else small in, small round hole, will eject the tray.

I am going to sandbag it. I can use that particular cd to workout with. I will just attach a dvd player separate since most postings can't use the dvd anyway after they get the cd out. Thanks for the help anyway! Susan

If you have a optical out on your dvd player and optical in on the receiver that is the best connection for digital sound, the vcr section will have to be hooked up analog using rca cords

They had a recall of portable batteries and a lawsuit on infringement. The parent company is Jiangsu Digital Technology Co., Ltd. ("Shinco Digital").

The website is down and the phone numbers don't seem to work. Last known address.

I purchased my Mintek from Costco and had the same problem. They are aware of the problems with Mintek and lack of support. If your set is from Costco or other stores try them for a solution or refund. It worked for me. I got a full refund. Most retailers have a copy of the reciept if not try anyway.

Good Luck
