The clicking noise is a protection circuit that prevents the TV from switching on when a fault is detected.

That means that there is a short, a bad solder joint, or a bad component inside the TV, usually any good technician is able to find out at least the nature of the fault. Often this jobs must be done at a repair shop, as testing may take time, probably your technician was just in a hurry.

All you can try at home is leaving tv unplugged for a couple of hours, this drains power from the set , and fix some problem.
If it does not work send it to a repair shop.

Do not panic! Do not throw your TV away like I wanted to! Here is what may be the solution for most of the members who have posted their complaints here recently. I am not an expert, but I followed all blogs from various websites and forums, and the conclusion was the same;replace the convergence board for this model. I purchased it from www.partstore.com and since this Akai is the same model as the Samsung Model # HCN4226WX/XAA, buy the Samsung BP95-00142E Convergence board for $77. It came to about $85 after shipping. The Convergence board has two black STK ICs and two colors of wires, a gray kind and a blue kind, all which have 'pins' and can easily be unplugged from the circuit board in the TV. It is basically a complete system that takes less than 30 minutes to install. It is a simple swap procedure, with no soldering. You only need the new board and a screwdriver! Remove the lower back board of your TV where the cables are plugged in (do not unscrew all the screws for the screen, as it is unnecessary, and might just damage your screen if you are not careful.) It has a u-like shape and comes off easy. Detach the gray wires connecting your old board to the rest of the circuitry, and detach the blue wires connecting the old board to the circuitry. On the old board, there are connectors marked, from left, blue, green and red. Detach those from the old board, and mark the wires so that you may connect the correct the wires to the new board. You then unscrew the only screw connecting the board to the TV,and unhook the board from the TV. Hook the new board to the hooks which held the old board, and screw the lone screw to the board. Plug the gray cables from the new board to the connectors where the gray cables from the old board were, and do so for the blue cables. Connect the multicolored cables to the blue, green and red, just as was done on the old board. Reattach the cover and test the TV. Please do not replace the two STK ICs only. When I removed my old board, I realized that there was a burn mark, where the ICs were, but maybe it was a fuse. You may replace the ICs only to discover that it was another problem.Good luck, and I wish you all the best in the repairs. I just saved about$100 for a repairman just to show up.

Did you check the power plug and plug it to a different power outlet. You can also check the power supply board. Start with the fuse coz maybe its just blown. If it is, you can simply replace it.

Well I have work on many set, but I must say I have not work on an Akai but I think this set is much like the Apex and the PS may have a fusible resistor open. Second I have changed many of CRT fluids, but I have found that changing the gasket will cause leaks to cease. If you get the power supply out check the resistors and fuses. This sounds like your problem, but first I would make sure leak is taken care of, because if not you've wasted a good convergence board.

I suspect Its something to do with the Video Board, bring it to a Technician and ask him to do re-soldering to terminal leads of components with crack or cold solder at the terminals. most color problems are in the video board circuits. hope it helps.

Your green gun in our tv is misagligned/out of focus. Your tv uses red, green and blue guns that layer in different shades and mix to create the different colors. Your green is a little off so the colors aren't mixing right which explains the green haze and the shadows. A tv repair man can fix this problem pretty easily and it isnt expenisve.

If it is a projection TV , like the model in title, then it is not a convergence problem.

Describe the problem in detail and confirm the model number for the TV.
