Could be that your self defrost mechanism is not working and unit is freezing up and not cooling. Till fixed just defrost overnight and turn on next day. It will run fine for a few days till it freezes up again.

Probably need to replace open heater element. Go to sears web site for part number and then purchase it for less money on ebay.

fridge --around 4 ( should be at 5 degrees c and freezer around 6---minus 20 degrees c
for the fridge settings the numbers work down from hot --7 to zero --- 1 where as the freezer works from 1--- zero to minus to 7 really cold at -20
adjust each depending on the time the door is open and the frequency of the opening ---examples
if you find that lettuce is freezing at 4 and you are the only person using the door , put it up to 5 but if there a family and the door is continually being opened or held open while the minds are being made up , you may have to consider 2 or 3

Ice makers can be purchased inexpensively on ebay for about 45 dollars.

Otherwise the hassle can be caused by the solenoids feeding the unit water, the icemaker thermostat, heater element, cam motor, cam sequence, icemaker "off" switch, etc. Also check to make sure that the water line feeding refrigerator is working!

The filter(s) could be installed backwards. The arrow should point toward the refrigerator, not the water source

I think the best way to answer your question is to provide you with an Amana=> ASD2620HRB Parts List If you do not have Adobe Reader Click=> HERE Once you have the PDF open I want you to go to pages 22 and 36. The defrost heater is installed just like the parts/evaporator, clips are shown where the defrost has to mounts it to your evaporator. Then go to page 36 and bottom right corner of the diagram shows two different colors of wires. The brown wire makes a loop through one side of the defrost thermostat. The orange wire connects to the other side of the defrost thermostat and the orange wire also connects to the defrost heater. Please ask should you have questions and please rate my solution, Thanks Sea Breeze

Kevin if your model number ASD2622HR is correct you can test your water control vave after removing the front cover.of the ice maker using a ohm test points you should get from the N and V test points should show around 150 to 350 ohms of resistance. Then ohm test test ports L and H test points are for testing the mold heater. The dual water control valve ca still be defective mechanically so tell me is there water or ice still remaining in the ice slots? Pour tap water into ice maker and allow to freeze and if ice maker cycles and drops the ice into ice bin then does not refill with water that will indicate a defective water control valve. You should get around 72 ohm's of resistance. A new dual water control valve=> 67005154 Dual Inlet Water Valve
Replacement Ice maker=> D7824706Q Ice Maker Assembly12_17_2011_2_58_46_am.jpg

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

You will have to remove the back panel inside the freezer to see how frosted the evaporator coil is. Then form there, you can test the heater coil, the defrost termination thermostat. If the edge between the freezer and the fridge is hot, ( warm is normal) please check the condenser fan if it is running or if the condenser coil is clean. If the condenser coil is dirty, vacuum it and give it a good cleaning.

If the fan is not running, either lubricate it or replace it if it is bad. Regarding the filter, if you can see a round piece of cover at the lower kick panel of the unit, freezer side, then that is the cover for your water filter. Sometimes, the filter is located on the fridge side, top most shelf right side. If you see a cannister there, then that is your water filter.

Hope helps.

Hi,

Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.

If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...

Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
