Sounds like the video card could be bad. Also make sure the connections from your cable box are securely tightened.

Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. Hello Townsend, It sounds like a problem called blooming, or you are having a problem with focus control which are signs of a problem in the horizontal and high voltage section of the tv in the case of plasma TV this would be the excitation circuit. I would suggest that you take the set to a TV repair shop to effect repairs.

There can be many things that can cause a jumping or unstable picture. The power supply is the starting point. You would have to be able to monitor the voltage outputs to determine if there is instability.

Then there is the testing of the circuit boards by monitoring the proper waveforms, as per indicated in the service manual. You will require the proper test instruments for this. Once the defective board is found it will have to be replaced.

If the set is out of warranty, it may be more worth while to replace it. Servicing out of warranty can be too expensive to be cost effective.

According to a couple of people I have conferred with, that RAM should work.
Take a stick of the old ram out and make sure the the cut out, in the new RAM, is in the exact place as the old sticks. It cannot be off by a micron, or it will not fit.
