Accuracy is important --Use a digital thermometer to monitor freezer and fridge temps. Fridge should be around 40 and freezer around zero and then take it from there and draw conclusions

Look inside the back wall inside freezer and if you see ice building up then your Amana needs either a defrost timer=> 67001036 Defrost Timer or you may be having problems with the defrost heater=> 67002493 Defrost Heater Here are some large pictures to help you locate your parts that may be defective=> Amana_ARB9058CS_Evaporator_Components item location number 15 in lower left side of photo. In this case I think your refrigerator may need the defrost timer below but I would like you to manually turn the clock on the time clockwise slowly until compressor and fans stop running. The defrost timer is located inside the fresh food compartment and just behind the controls for adjusting temps inside fresh food compartment location=> Amana ARB9058CS Controls That is my most likely guess the timer but sometimes it will be the defrost heater or defrost thermostat affect these also here=> 12001937 Defrost Thermostat

I will be here if you have questions please ask, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ah this is an indication that your condenser has become dirty, or blocked, or the fan motor is not working or the air flow is restricted.
The noise is generated when the compressor cycles off and sudders to a stop

This uses an 8 hour timer which means it goes into defrost every 8 hours shutting down the compressor and fan motor.

  1. I am not expert but this exact same thing happened to me - same model of fridge. The line which brings water in is frozen. I don't know how to solve it permanently, but if you take out the two produce drawers you can see where the water comes through. Put a hair dryer blowing on it for a few minutes and it will get it going again.

Possibly the filter both air and water. Make sure the lines aren't frozen. If the unit has an ice maker you can warm the lines with a blow dryer ( warm on low fan) make sure it's level. Is the trim gasket around the door worn?

Theres a few solutions that could fix this. 1st I would let the unit thaw out could have ice built up on the air passage that wont allow the air to travel freely. Some caused by not having a good seal around the door.

Always fault find and repair the fault before replacing a board. Without sight of the machine, I can only guess at the compressor.
