20 Most Recent Amana ARS9266BS Side by Side Refrigerator Questions & Answers

When your refrigerator is running, but not cooling, here are some troubleshooting steps to help you identify and fix the problem.

First, give the refrigerator at least 24 hours to adjust to a new temperature setting.

If it still isn't cooling, check the air flow around the vents and make sure they are not blocked. Next, check the seal on the door by placing a dollar bill against the frame and closing the door on it. If you can remove the dollar bill easily, the refrigerator seal needs to be replaced.

Finally, check for dirt or dust build up on the condenser, as this will reduce the heat transfer your refrigerator needs to operate efficiently.

For more information and hints on working through these troubleshooting steps, see this Refrigerator not cooling video. I hope this helps!

Hello,
The water dispensing and the things freezeing is related. The problem is a the air damper that located in the upper left side wall of the freshfood section is sticking open and allowing too much cold air to flow into the freshfood compartment and that damper needs to be replaced. The part number for that damper asm. is 12571701 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
searspartsdirect.com
repairclinic.com
apwagner.com
appliancepartspros.com

You coull semi regulate the temp for now by turning off freezer control off overnight and back on in the morning till the damper can be replaced.

Hello,

The water is from the melted frost of the defrost cycle. The drain at the bottom of the back wall of the freezer is blocked so instead of the water draining into the pan where it will evaperate,it's pooling on the freezer floor and freezing, in many case when the floor indent is full the water will leak onto the floor.By pulling the refrigerator out from the wall, there will be a tube behind the service panel on the right side when looking at it from the rear, that tube can be removed and cleared, then clear the nozzle it connects to inside the freezer.

I hope this helps you to stop the leak,
Gene

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds like you have a defrost issue. Hence your unit is not defrosting. All of this apply's if your freezer side has ice on it. If not. you have other issues
Here is a list of some things that can go wrong.
1. Defective heat coil
2. Defective defrost timer
3. Defective defrost sensor
You should call a service company to resolve your issue.

Since I tried to help you, Please help me and Rate/Vote on the response. Thanks

If the water filter has been changed. And there is water going to the door, then the valve or circuit to icemaker is bad, or the unit or door is frozen.

Dear mjcuevas

As a rough guess on this one, I would query the compressor/ pump that supplies the entire systtem with cold water/ air. Even though the motor is spinning up, the pump itself may be defective, and this possibly could be the case as your system is meant to be under pressure and both cooling and cold water dispensing is carried out through the pump. It may also be advisable to query the pressure regulators and any return valves in the system to ensure that these are not defective. Also check for worn or damaged piping and seals on the rear of the unit.

If this does not throw up the correct answer, then it may be advisable to go on to the internet, look up your appliance manufacturer/ vendor, and consult there FAQ (frequently asked questions) area about the product, also look at the service guide, service sheets, and any support information regarding this appliance. You can also get this information by going to http://www.google.com and searching for all of what i mentioned here, you should get a result on this, and even a guide on how to fit any new parts yourself.

I hope this information was useful, and please do let me know how you have got on with this issue.

I am also here to answer all of your questions relating any other technical issue regarding household appliances or computers/ consumer electronics, and you can talk to me anytime day or night here 365 days a year.

Yours sincerely

If there is no water up the lines check if the lines are frozen. You can do this by defrosting the freezer.

If the lines are not frozen or blocked , then test and eventual replace the water valve, that is part 17 on diagram below. Here is the part: PS2003637

If water is reaching the ice maker instead, check the ice maker inlet valve: PS381004

Volman, take a look in the freezer section and see if you have a heavy build-up of frost on the back panel. You want to take the evap cover off and see if the evaporator is frozen up. If so, your refer did not go into defrost and cannot move the air over to the refer side. If this is the case you will have to defrost that evaporator completely. On these Amanas the culprit is usually the bi-metal which sits on the evaporator. Look at it and see if it's buldged. The part number for the bi-metal is ro131661. If you defrost the evap your refer will start cooling again normally until it freezes over again. This will give you time to replace the bimetal....Catriver...post back.

if the unit has been runfor some time prior to connecting the water the fill tube may be frozen up, he solution is to turn off defrost overnight with door open and then turn back on, flush water through when turned back on to clear old water and air.

Couldnt find anything on you model #... Might try jumping out the door switch... some refrigerators the door switch will stop the fan motor.. if you have a wireing diagram post on here.. some refrig. have one tugged under front .. some hard to find if any

That can be two things.

1. Condensation

2. The evaporator is in there behind the grill with a small fan. It freezes up and has a defrost which causes water. That water runs into a drain, your drain is blocked or the fan isn't working.

28 years old, you are due for a new one.

This appears to be a reference to the defrosting component of a Amana freezer. Let's just assume that it is not a problem with the freezer door seals. (If the seal is not a tight seal when the door is closed, you have melting occurring and the the freezer trying to compensate by refreezing, yielding a lot of icing in the compartment. This is what happens if you over stuff the freezer and the freezer door does not quite close firmly, as well.)

The Amana defrost thermostat might be defective or have become dislodged for some reason. If defective, it would require replacement. But let's say it is not defective. The defroster didn't work when there was too much ice buildup. This could cause the molex connector in the thermostat to contract, breaking the connect activating it. One user "fixed" this problem by putting aluminum foil inside the molex connector.

If the theromostate became dislodged from its "attachment point", one would need to know the model of the freezer know where that point was. https://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/threads/amana-defrost-thermostat-installation-location.27405/

There are videos describing replacement of the thermostat in some Amana's. You can find such on YouTube. I just can't promise that replacement would fix the problem.

Check first that there is no leak coming through your gasket a good way is stick a flashlight inside your freezer turn out the lights if you see and beam or light the seal is cracked or must be replaced the check your coils where Freon is supplied if there not cold you must to a pressure test while adding Freon also check for leaks by spraying water on your coils . It's a matter of mathematical elimination also check thermostat if your Amana is under 10 years old look for the fault codes and get someone that can read what faults are being detected
