This sounds like a proble with the unit's power supply in which case you could find a local tv repair shop and see how much they would charge to diagnose the issue.

I just purchased this unit and briefly looked at removing the stand though I haven't taken it off yet. Anyways, I think you need to remove the black metal mounting frame from the TV before trying to unscrew the stand (4 screws) from the metal frame. After the frame is off the TV, I think you can then get at a couple of hidden screws to remove the stand from frame. I don't know if the frame goes back on the TV or not.

Although not a great solutin it does allow me to use my fairly new and expensive LCD TV. Heres what I do, UNPLUG THE TV FOR 20 -30 MINUTES, WHEN PLUGGED BACK IN YOU NEED TO VERY QUICKLY PUSH THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TV.
Let e know if this works fo you.

The MLT169A is a version number issued by MegaMeet in asia who built the supply. The correct part number for the SMPS for that unit is: E7802-005008 and unfortunately they are no longer available... However, there is some good news, those supplies can usually be rebuilt but you need to have the equipment, knowledge to make the repair...

For a set this size, there should be at least 4 mounting holes for a wall bracket. Please note that wall mounting is an option so the holes may be covered by plastic caps to hide the holes. These holes should be in a box shape around 1 foot wide or so.

Go into your setup menu and turn off closed captioning. The black square is a box for the text.

You didn't say if it's new out of the box, anyway, check to see if any of the buttons feel abnormal when you press them, they should all feel by press identical. It's possible just a stuck button.
Let me know!

The problem is a failing power supply, there are several sources online that can rebuild your supply if you ship it to them hope this helps.

I had this same problem. I found a service tech in my area that knew the problem and the solution. Remove the back of the set and on the upper right side there is a black module with cooling fins on it. Amid the cooling fins there are 3 capacitors. They are black with a silver top, about 3/8" in diameter and 3/4" tall. The center of the top will be silver and will have two scored marks at right angles to each other. If the tops are swollen rather than flat they are bad and need to be replaced. Mine were rated at 16v 1000uF. He replaced them with 35v (maybe 36v I don't remember for sure) capacitors. They need to be unsoldered from the circuit board and new ones soldered in. Replace all 3. It only took him about 30 minutes to do and when if was fired up I found that not only was the problem solved but the picture and sound quality was greatly improved as well.
