There is a product called " Dishwasher Magic " to clean, deodorize, and disinfect dishwashers. Hardware, appliance parts, and possibly grocery stores should carry it. It comes in a rectangular 12 once bottle.
Also, check to see that the drain hose loops up higher than the outlet into the drain so no water will run back into your dishwasher from the drain or disposer.

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is toadd some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

hello ejazz1,
first thing is what is the model number of your ge i ask this because if we need to i can send you an in depth schematic of your machine if you are able to provide me with this. One of the first things you need to check is the drain line to assure that there is nothing clogged in the line or where it connects into your sink or garbage disposal if you are able to assure that on this side of the drain there are no cloggs then you would need to shut off the power and shut off the water because you would need to deinstall your unit and pull it out from under your counter. Once you do this you can see where the drain line comes off the drain pump and you can disconnect the drain line from the drain pump to assure there is nothing caught on this end of the drain. if the drain hose checks out as unclogged the next step would be to disconnect the drain pump and do a bench test on the drain pump we can go further into this step after you send your model number and also assure that your drain line is not clogged not is the inlet point where the drain line connects to your sink. after you have double checked the drain line then try turning on the power and look down the sink to see if your unit is now draining if you have any further questions message me back Thanks Rick

Dishwashing detergents have recently been re formulated and sulfates were removed. This has caused the dishes to no rinse properly in areas with hard water. The solution is too add a rinse agent containing citric acid. I got some today from our local appliance store and the dishes came out perfect!

this could be a couple reasons,,,one the hose going to the drain is plugged up,,which happens alot in all dish washers,,,so it is the hose going to the top of your sink the cap part on the back side of your sink,,,,90% of the time it is that,,,,the soap does not get washed out all the time so it builds up...easy fix,,,use a flash light to see better,,,if it is not that,,,then the filter insde the unit maybe clogged there is two of them most of the time,, remember water falls down so the filters will be on the bottom,,,if those are not it there is a small motor on the bottom of the unit,,,remember always unplug the unit before you work on it,,,

YOu definitely need to try www.applianceart.com. They have many dishwasher covers as well as the stainless metal panels that you can just slip into the door. Give them a try, who knows? you may want to put your own face on your dishwasher...they do that too!
