Turn off the laptop. Remove the battery. Leave the AC adapter attached. Power on the laptop to see if it runs on AC power alone. If not, then the problem may lie with the ThinkPad or the AC adapter.

1. Try changing the channel setting to 1, 3, 5, 7
2. check speed on speedtest.net
3. Check for interference (cordless phones are culprit)

Looks like a fault in the charging circuit.
I suggest you return your laptop to the supplier for a repair or exchange under warranty. If you try to fix it yourself you couls void your warranty.

Try updating the drivers in your computer. You can use RadarSync to do it so that every driver is covered in the computer thus you can avoid from getting any problems with them.

I would start in safe mode with networking. Download and install freeware MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the TRIAL PRO version, you want the freeware version. Run a FULL Scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Repeat if necessary. Before you reboot, run a FULL Scan with your up-to-date Anti Virus software, delete ALL results, reboot. Use freeware CCLEANER : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This freeware program will clean up your machine. In the TOOLS section, STARTUP section, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs to speedup start and running. This will get you started, Post results for further assistance.

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

do you have the settings for the battery {lower bottom right} setp up to be all the way dim when on battery power and or do you have settings set to dim when charger is plugged in or something to that affect ?

I would replace the battery with a genuine Thinkpad replacement. If a battery is altered in some way it MAY be a fire hazard.
