Unless your TomTom device comes with a "life-time" map, you need (to pay for a map update and) get an activation code everytime to wish to install a new/revised map on your device. You can subscribe to a year of update (i.e. 4 maps updates for the year) and you should be able to update the maps (4 times) after you enter the activation code (once you've paid for the map subscription).

After two attempts and no real solution do you think it is wise to go for a third time around? You should be insisting an an exchange since you have paid twice for a repair and they did not fix it! Get real!

the battery is probably to low. very common problem with these and many other models...hook it up to your computer via the usb cable for a few hours to get a good charge on it. then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds.

if that fails, let me know and we can try something else, but this usually works 99% of the time

It seems this device / model was only built for use in Japan ... so, you may not be able to switch the language to English.

First, check and make sure your battery is fully charged. Then try to do a "Reset" .... by pressing and holding down the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds (or a lot more) until the device powers on again. Yes, at times, it may take a minute or more ! of holding that button down.

It appears that the map (validation/activation) has been lost / corrupted (damaged)... or the map hasn't been activated, or is not compatible with the navigation software installed on that GPS.

If the map file/data simply was corrupted, consider using your PC's Disk Utilities (or CheckDisk) to restore/fix the disk (or SD card). If you have a back-up copy of it, consider restoring it from backup.
If your TomTom GPS is new / still under warranty, contact TomTom support to have them activate it for you.

It may be likely that only one of the maps have been installed & activated properly ... or two of the 3 maps somehow got corrupted and is no longer accessible/useable.
What (names) of the 3 maps did HOME list ?

There is a "Reset Factory Setting" menu button in your Change Preferences menu that you can select to restore your GPS to factory setting.

If you can't seem to find it, make sure you have all your menu options shown ... by selecting "Show All Menu Option" button first.

Often this is the result of keeping the device plugged into a power source all (or most) of the time, even when it is not in use. The battery literally looses it capability to hold a good (long) charge.
So, you'll need to keep the device plugged in (to a power source) every time you need to use it ... to continue using it. Or, you may wish to replace the battery. And if / when you do, just remember to charge it fully, then unplug it and use the device (to run only on the battery) until the battery is depleted before plugging it in to charge it (to full) again. This way, the battery will last longer.

If its still under warranty, get it repaired.. it sounds like hardware problem. Of course, you'll need to contact TT for repair options.
