delime the sprayhead and the reservoir drain in the top with a deliming spring or a screwdriver

Tip

Bunn coffee brewer brews too slow?

lime builds up on the metal surfaces where the hot water cools down or evaporates, such as the sprayhead, the waterline to the sprayhead, the reservoir inlet, or the insides of the tank. the sprayhead and reservoir inlet buildup will restrict flow and extend brew time and may even not brew through all of the grounds. to fix:
1. remove the top of the brewer. the reservoir is right on top and the drain looks like a nut with a hole in it. lime will plug this up. using a deliming spring or even a philipshead screwdriver, push through and twist to get rid of the lime.
2. unscrew and remove the sprayhead and bore the lime out of the holes with a small flathead screwdriver or a paperclip.
3. if necessary, unscrew the reservoir drain nut, place it and the sprayhead in a cup of straight vinegar. for more stubborn lime, use CLR, but wash and rinse thoroughly.
4. if you have a deliming spring, push it through the outlet waterline to the sprayhead all the way past the 2 elbows and pull in and out, removing any lime buildup.
5. rinse parts, reassemble the reservoir, and brew a little without the sprayhead first to get rid of any loose lime. then put sprayhead on and run a test brew. if it brews short or too much, see tip for recallibrating

you'll have to recallibrate. use a 64 ounce measuring cup and follow the instructions on the inside of the front panel.

thermal fuse is blown. it is located in the top, right rear of the machine in what is now browned tubing. you can either bypass the fuse with a jumper, or get a new part through bunn (800) 352-BUNN (2866)

delime the sprayhead holes with a paperclip, and the trough drain inside the top with a screwdriver. this will ensure proper flow

Bunn CWTF 15-3... | Answered on Jan 15, 2015

open the top. there is a trough drain that gets limed up. using a phillips head screwdriver, push through and twist, thereby removing the lime and ensuring proper flow. if water can't get through, it may overflow over the sides of the trough. also look behind the trough to the top of the tank and see if there is any water damage around the seals. if there is, replace the seals

You can take the lid off and unscrew the nut that holds the water tray. Then take a 3/8 hose to siphon the water out of the machine.

Might be a bad solenoid. Check voltage going through the fill solenoid. If voltage is there at around 110, check if water is filling the fill pan. If no water is filling and you have the correct voltage. its a bad solenoid.

Remove the front panel and make sure the pressure stat is turned up to max and back it up 1/4 way. If you have done that already then remove the top and check the thermostat and the inline fuse.

needs service tech to adjust.

(Do it yourselfers can adjust the black knob down from 2.5 to about 2 mins. Digital timers have instructions in back of the front panel. CAUTION!! There is high voltage present. Pull out the plug! Safer to just have it serviced.)

Leaking from top of tank; Call for service as this is an electrical hazard.
*** the following is for information only. ***
* Replace any worn gaskets and silicone tubes.
* There may be cracks in the metal pipes. Hard to see, but there, if you remove the lime deposits.
* check the top tray nut if the gasket to the tank is missing. It's about an 1-1/4" round washer with about a 3/4" hole. Usually made of white silicone rubber. It seals the fill tray to the tank. Leaks often.
* Bunn equipment can last quite a few years (decades?) but the gaskets do get hard and the tank needs to be water tight to work properly. Since this is already an old brewer and you've saved money rebuilding it. Suggest going further by replacing all gaskets. Yes they do need to be snug with no cracks.

delime the sprayhead and reservoir drain (in the top) with a deliming spring or a screwdriver. to delime the tank, put a half gallon of vinegar in the top and catch the hot water as it comes out of the sprayhead. leave it sit for about 20 minutes and brew at least 8 times (w/o coffee) or until you can no longer taste vinegar

What about Bunn water level? Too high? Too low? Not filling? Leaking?

Bunn CWTF Coffee... | Answered on Nov 25, 2014

Most likely cause is that the seal between the water reservoir and the tank is leaking. Not uncommon. If you can find a replacement seal go for it, otherwise the old one can be made serviceable by coating both sides with a thin bead or layer of clear silicone. Allow to cure for 24 hours before powering the coffee maker back up.
