this may also depend on the operating system you are working with , most of the new operating systems configure the printer on their own but some like the win98 cannot , if u have the same spec just go to printer settings on your desktop and modify the print options as u require

HiAs a quick fix, take it to any computer shop that would be able to have it refilled.
Hope this helps

Might be cartridges are refilled.
You may got doubt why its not measuring the ink levels?. When printer found new catridge(printer/system based on design) will treats that new cartridge installed & estimated level will display fully. After couple of print outs printer/system will displays estimated ink levels depend upon the ink usage. But there is no mechanical ink level sensors or any other device for mesuaring the levels..Once the ink level trated empty you need to replace new cartridge straight away,if you refilled the same catridge it wont measure the levels, because of the cartridge data code already stored in printer. ..

In most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer ONLY WHEN PROMPTED, to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Take a test print and then use the scan for calibration. If this wont work there are errors in the motherboard.
