I'm assuming that your keyboard and mouse are wireless versions. You should therefore have a wireless controller plugged into one of the USB ports, probably at the back of the PC. Try removing the wireless controller and install it in a different USB port. The Windows operating system should detect it as a new device and attempt to install the drivers automatically.

The light on means its getting enough power to turn on the light

Test your PSU power supply unit or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle of restarting or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive power and data cables IDE SATA

the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO YOUR HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your dvd\cd floppy drives have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

computers need power and data to travel through every working device to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

even something as small as a faulty electrical or fan lead can cause you problems

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail

check all electrical power input and extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

also check the Cmos battery and computer RAM modules make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or in the sockets on some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

check you CPU central processing unit make sure its securely seated and has thermal paste it might be getting to hot the thermal paste will help disperse the heat

Thermal compound is a sticky paste that is placed directly onto the CPU.

Allowing for a more direct heat transfer between the CPU and HEAT SINK and preventing air gaps from forming between the CPU and heat sink.

hope this helps

another possible reason could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time putting to much strain on the CPU central processing unit

scroll to bottom toolbar bottom of screen right click select task manager
applications you will see whats running if you see anything you dont need running select end now

also under processes see what is ticking over again if you see something you don't need to be running end now or you might uninstall that program and some unnecessary programs

not having enough computer ram can cause memory dumps

If you are not sure if a module is right for your system use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules.

first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system

you should always for a guarantee on any ram modules when purchasing them or buy working pairs if possible

hope this helps

You turned the laptop on and off and it still is asleep?

When you turned it off did the power go completely off? If not remove the power cord to make it go off.

Try booting up into safe mode and see if it goes to sleep.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Take the Safe Mode With Networking option (this will give you internet connectivity so you can view the manual later) and let it boot up. Safe Mode will look different to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this is normal. Check your Power Options in the Control Panel to set your Sleep Mode and Hibernation up higher or set it to NEVER. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Power Option (it might be under System and Performance).

Below is a link to your user manual. You want to go to Pages 77 and 78 where it talks about changing the Power Plan. You want to select Change Advanced Settings as it talks about on pages 78 and you will be allowed to change the hibernate and sleep settings.

Try to boot up into "Safe Mode", do this by hitting the F7 key upon bootup.
A screen with a selection list should appear then use the up/down keys to highlight
the "Safe Mode" and press enter. If the computer boots up to windows then
try a system restore to an earlier date. This can be found in the "Accessories"
under "Tools". The problem could be a malware or other corruption.
It is also possible that your S.M.A.R.T. drive monitoring feature has in fact
determined that your hard drive has failed. If this so, then replace the drive
and install Gatewat recovery DVD on the new drive. You will also have allow
the updates from Microsoft as well as any other programs you had installed.
You might be able to access your files that were on the failed drive by
connecting it as a slave drive on your computer.

If your computer system goes into auto power saving mode you can get out of this state by clicking the mouse, moving the mouse, pressing enter or space. Try the wake up button if you have one on your keyboard.

You can set the setting of power saving mode by navigating to your Windows control panel and double clicking Power Options.

Under the power schemes tab select the time period to go into standby mode. Click apply and ok, when you are finished.

Take care!

If you want to wipe it, then ignore the recovery feature. Most often, this is simply to repair an existing Windows installation. Using the recovery option will not save your programs or settings anyway. Just re-install Windows and your drivers from scratch.

You either have a massive mechanical failure or a virus. I have seen this caused many times before by a virus batch file opening and closing the DVD drive. You can restore the computer or bring it to someone to have it cleaned out.

Very likely not related at all. Make sure cable from monitor is securely connected to the computer. If it is, try connecting it to someone else's computer to see if it works there. If it does your computer has a problem, probably hardware, a new video card might fix that. If the monitor doesn't work on the other person's computer then the monitor will probably have to be replaced. Good luck.

if the computer refuse to defragment a partition it means that you do not have enough free space on that partition for the action ...so you need at least 15% free space ..the action to do is to delete some useless files or old ones you do not need anymore..and perform the action ..
